If you want to stop Gronk you want to prevent him from getting the ball. If he's catching the ball with space he's going to have a field day running over defensive backs because the man is virtually impossible to bring down with one guy that's not a linebacker.

I'd take my chances with Cromartie covering him and live to fight another day tackling him knowing you need to gang tackle him anyway. The thing about Cromartie vs. Gronk is he'll stick to him like glue without there being much opportunity of Cro getting beat over the top vs. Him because he's so much faster. I'd like the matchup since he's long and he won't be getting beat with quickness.

If we had even half the talent at olb that we have at cb we would be amazing.

We have tried but the NFL OLB usually gets snatched up....
Then the free agent wants to get paid and we never wanted to spend that much in FA. So we end up saying...meh, we're good with Pace SMMFH

I agree that Cro is our best bet on Gronk. The knock on Cro is that he's not physical, but that's not totally true. He doesn't like to get hit, but he'll mix it up before the ball gets there.

He's faster than Gronk, and he'll be on him, probably foul him some, but Gronk is big and lumbering, and the refs might not call a lot of it, and let them play. I think he'd be the one to frustrate Gronk and knock him off his game.

I agree with all of this other than the refs letting them play. Refs are so trigger happy with flags when Brady is playing in a game it's unbelievable. I'm shocked no one has taken a cheap shot at Brady when they're running up the score. Not to mention all the animosity towards a team that has repeatedly broken the rules whether it's on a large scale or playing with some gamesmanship and subbing behind teams backs like the Ravens bullshit. Was it smart? Yes. Did it push the envelope of some unwritten rules to not be a scumbag and bend the rules? Yes.

Hit the man and eat the fine you may get for driving him into the ground. Unbelievable that they call that roughing the passer, but that's a penalty you can live with vs. an elite quarterback. Don't be dirty, don't be late, but make sure Brady feels it. He hates getting hit that's why he curls up when a sack is imminent.

I expect Bowles to have the gameplan of his life this week. I'm just interested to see how he plays it. The one thing that makes me confident about it is that he's not like Rex in that he'll ride his game plan right up until the clock says 0 in the 4th. He's not afraid to change the plan at halftime if it's not working and most importantly will show different looks in the second half. Maybe a heavy blitz in the first half and coverage in the second.

I like the idea of letting Gronk get some early easy touches and then throw a different look at him. It creates a lulling effect. I don't expect a single player to try to match up with him throughout the entire game.
