No, it's been said everywhere around here that HE IS the guy and that we are make or break with him in the future. I don't buy it. The draft sucks the next couple of years but Fitz IMO has at least 1-2 years in him and there are plenty of guys just like Petty around the league who other teams hope to build up also. I will be ecstatic if Petty turns into a solid backup that can be relied on to win games when needed. If he does turn into an awesome starting QB then obviously that's fantastic but I'm not putting that on him.
If the Jets already had their starting QB for the future and drafted Petty in the 4th round nobody would even mention him as a likely starter down the road. It's the vacuum at QB that makes every guy coming in look like the savior if he just gets enough time, that and the fact that the Pats lucked into a Hall of Famer in the 6th round. If Petty turns into something he turns into something and we should be grateful. I'm not holding my breath on that.
found this pretty interesting... jets are in top 5 for week 7 power rankings ... saw on the twitter handle @realfootballtv
Aaron Rodgers went on the 24. Andy Dalton went on 35. Drew Brees on the 32. As long as you are in the first 36 picks or so you've still got a shot at a QB, assuming there are 3 or 4 people are looking at. Taking a QB on the 28 wouldn't necessarily be a dead end for the Jets.
Yes, the 4th round list is brutal. The 5th round list is brutal. With the exception of Joe Montana and Russell Wilson the 3rd round list is brutal. The 2nd rounders tend to blow chunks also but in the first 4 picks of the 2nd round teams have found a few gems over the years.
Nassib and Savage are good enough to be starters although Savage's career might be ruined cuz of the injury, idk how bad it will affect him. Anyway, That's 2 out of 9. That's not bad. And really you had to be on drugs to want to draft most of those other guys.
Ryan Nassib career stats - 4 for 5 60 yards. 2 sacks. 1 fumble. Tom Savage career stats - 10 for 19 127 yards. 1 sack. 1 INT. How neither one of them isn't starting somewhere is truly amazing.
So he won't see the field at all this season since we will be contending for a wild card spot all season
15/31 111 yards 0 TD 1 Int. 3 fumbles. 6 sacks. Guess who's stats those are after two years. You're a dunce.
I agree our pick won't be early. But the draft will be deep enough with QBs that a decent enough guy could be there in the late 1st or early 2nd that could be traded up for.
Lol you aren't seriously comparing Ryan Nassib or Tom Savage to Aaron Rodgers the golden boy first round pick who could've just as easily been taken number 1 overall who was then pronounced the heir to Brett Favre are you? Send whatever your smoking my way.
You aren't seriously posting garbage time stats from players rookie years as proof that they can't be starters? Piss off man
Care to post some evidence as to why they would be starters on any team in the league? Hell even give me a reason they would start on CFL team.
Russel wilson was a 3rd rounder, brady a 6th rounder, carr a 2nd rounder, dalton a 2nd rounder, romo undrafted, brees 2nd rounder, foles 3rd round. These things happen. yes they are rare, but they happen
