What a day that was... OMG WE WENT D AGAIN WE ARE SO DUMB!!! Pryor keeps getting better, Cooks keeps getting worse. It's hard to blame the offense or the QB because guys like Wes Snead and now apparently Benjamin Watson are making plays in it, and the QB is averaging the 2nd most passing yards per game. Meanwhile, Pryor has found his sweet spot and is starting to thrive in it. He's making plays and looking good doing it. Do we even trade for Marshall if we have Cooks? Hindsight is 20/20 of course, but this looks like it's another case of freaking out before it was warranted because that's what our fanbase does.
A good strong safety is worth more than a good slot receiver. That said, the Jets have to start spending some value on the offensive side of the ball. The key players over there are long in the tooth at this point and the beards are starting to go grey. I'm just really glad we didn't take a CB on that pick. I thought it was 50/50 the Jets would do that given the other dynamics in play.
I don't regret the pick so much as I wanted us to trade down and try to pick up one of the QB's or WR's available in the late 1st early 2nd. I didn't and still don't dislike Pryor but like Br4dw4y5ux pointed out. They really have got to start putting some of these picks into the offense.
they should draft a stud who can play both guard and tackle. Leaves them flexibility while they watch and see which of their graybeards topples first
I liked the Pryor pick at the time, he didn't do too well last year but he was somewhat playing out of his comfort zone so it's understandable. I think he can be a very good SS. Maybe not elite but at least not a huge liability.
Spend money on offense or really spend high draft picks? They have invested heavily in free agency/trades on the offensive side of things in recent years. (Ivory, Colon, Decker, Giacomini, Carpenter, Marshall, Fitzpatrick. Mike Vick!!!) It's time to draft there now.
As long as he can play tackle that's a good idea. A great guard in the 20's wouldn't be bad either. Just not a top 10 pick on a guy who will play guard his whole career.
When you spend money you're fixing a problem for a year or two, maybe three at the outside. When you hit on a pick you're fixing things for a decade.
The Brandin Cooks thing reminds me of Tavon Austin. Similar situation as Jet fans were clamoring in unison for TA. Problem is, --- it didnt exactly work out either, as we ended up Dee Milliner. It really should have been Chance Warmack. But still, --- similar situation.
rather would have a QB - we said prior to the draft Cooks is a slot receiver at best. he hasn't had the impact others thought he would have.
In hindsight, I would have rather traded up for Odell Beckham, but at this point it doesn't matter. I like Pryor and think he'll eventually become a stud for us.
And that's with Brees and Payton to boot. Never thought he was a good idea..especially with Geno and Morhinweg I wanted Zach Martin. But was happy with Pryor over Cooks. I wanted Derek Carr. I was glad Mac drafted Bryce Petty
i dont regret taking him over cooks. i regret taking him over carr/bridgewater. and if we went wideout, id have wanted benjamin, who was a stud last year
in the last 6 years we have had 7 first round picks. we used ZERO of them on offense in the last 6 years, eric decker is the only offensive player we have signed who makes more then 8 million per season our offensive aquisations have been mostly bargain basement bandaids. we still have no solution at left tackle or long term awnser at QB. arguably 2 of the 4 most important positiosn in football
