I was just wondering what's everyone's opinion on gilchrist so far? I have been pleasantly surprised at how well he has been playing and feel like he's rarely brought up by the fans. He's been good in both run and pass defense, which is really all you can ask for

I'm just curious about his overall perception from the fanbase because it feels like literally no one has brought him up since the season started minus that interception against the colts

  2. I've been thrilled. He's been one of the most steady players on the team. He has very good range & tackles well...that's a very good start to being a great free safety.

Reminds me of Antonio Allen but playing even better.....Seems to have no problems stopping opposing TE's which is huge

Good piece of the overall puzzle.

I don't hear his name which means he's not doing anything wrong or playing badly.

    Makes me happy.

I think he is doing admirably well, he is a quiet unsung contributor that its keeping the secondary steady as it goes.

Solid player. Better in coverage than we gave him credit for.

With what he's shown here it seems like he was out of position in San Diego. He plays a good center field and we haven't given up any big players at all this season. He allows Pryor to go be Pryor down low and in the box. With Pryor playing a robber technique, Gilchrist over the top and man with our three corners we'll be in good shape as long as the blitz doesn't get figured out. If it does our horses up front should get it done.

This defense should finish top 5 no problem the question will be if we'll be able to force turnovers versus better teams. The offense needs them.

I think he's been really solid. Our secondary does not seem to have any weaknesses at the moment. I would probably say Cro as a weakness before this guy, he's been a rock so far. Really under the radar acquisition that is paying huge dividends.

Not hearing much about the guy has been the best indication that he's doing his job.
    Great compliment to Pryor .

He is exactly what he was expected to be after how he played in SD.

Top notch pickup, doing what he was supposed to do which is to prevent bigplays in the passing game and covering tight ends. One of the unsung heroes of our defense so far, a lot of the stuff he does doesn't get noticed and is mostly something the guys around him profit off and take credit for.

He is a clear upgrade over anything we've had since Hollywood was back there.

I'm happy they brought him in, him and Skrine are great players for what TB wants to do on defense.

Like most I was more focused on Revis and Cro when it came to off season moves on this unit. Somewhat less on Skrines, who I am fast becoming a big fan of, too. But Gilchrist I did not pay much attention to. I should have since this is one of the FO's better moves. He's not only playing well but he better COMPLEMENTS (not compliments) Pryor's style. I also liked the Bailey pick up last week. Is this not the best secondary in the league right now? Love it.

Safety play is usually only noticeable when its bad (Eric Smith, Kyle Lowery, Kerry Rhodes). So in that regard Id say Gilchrist has been pretty good so far.

Guys like him , Skrine and Williams are the pluses to Revis' A.

Gilly's got some ball skills, and he's shown that with his pic and in coverage. What I really like that, although he's 5'10", he does not play small at all. He's a rangy time, and he's always in position to not get beat. And blowing coverage over the top is something that would happen ALL THE TIME the past four years. Of course, he's been called for his share of penalties, but, apart for a few in the Eagles game, they were ticky-tacky (not that I'm complaining, it's just the nature of the game).

Looking forward to see what happens when he gets challenged by more elite competition (Gronkowski), but, through the first four games, he's made Mac look good for signing him to that 4-year deal.
