I don't blame people for wanting better QB play than what we've seen. What I don't get is how they think Geno Smith gives us that. As if he's ever been any good.

he had a bad game. But he did not make it 24-0. Once it became 24-0, Fitz became an issue.

If Geno wins games he will inspire confidence and will be viewed as a leader. All you gotta do is win. Thus far he has not done that, but the verdict is still out on him.

Marshall has backed Geno since he arrived in E. Rutherford and is a very vocal leader in the locker room. If Geno gets a shot I'm sure Marshall will instill confidence in him, and if he wins games the whole team will follow suite.

There isn't much nice to say about Geno at all, but this is the first offense we have seen the Jets have since 2010. The first two seasons I think Holmes was #1 receiver and then Kerley (1) and Nelson (2) for year 2. Geno has been bad, but the parts around him have been bad as well. Geno getting punched in the face to lose his starting job...yup he belongs to be on the bench right now. However, if Fitz doesn't put together a complete game, and come away with a W on Sunday, we have a QB controversy heading into the bye.

Fitz wins Sunday, end of story..he continues to start. Fitz and the Jets should win on Sunday (we have a much better team than Miami).

He is a hard-headed competitor, that wants to beat the person in front of him on every play. He is crazy, but you and I love it.

Best receiver to come our way since Key. Imagine him with a top knotch QB under center. This team could be explosive as hell.

only marcus mariotta isnt the worst qb in the nfl, which is why he was taken #2 overall in the draft.

geno is trash, with a pro bowl roster he would still suck.

Its like noone ever heard before how good Geno looked in training camp and at practice, then in the game made all kinds of mistakes. Who did that quote come from? I forget actually.

I don't personally think he'll be any good from what I've seen, but I know from years of seeing Fitzpatrick exactly what we are going to get, and it's what he's given us in the first 3 games. I think they need to go to Geno after the bye, and if he continues to shit the bed, switch back to Fitz for the remainder of the 8-8 (at best) season he's capable of delivering... and maybe throw Petty in for a few late game drives later in the season to get his feet wet.

There's really no point in sticking with Fitz with the current team makeup unless you have confirmed he is the best you have going for you this year. And there's no damage done with Geno coming in an getting his chance, because we aren't making any noise in December anyway.

The only good part is that the bye is relatively early this season.

Even if we beat Miami and are 3-1 going into the break? Seems like an insane time to change QB's unless you have a proven commodity coming back from injury.

I understand the reasoning here but I'd still only pull Fitzpatrick if it becomes clear he can't get the job done with the starting guys around him. So far that's not the case.

The thing you don't want this year is chaos enveloping the Jets at any point and as smooth and level as Todd Bowles is once the QB situation opens up the potential for chaos goes way up. I'd rather not see that unless the Jets have no other choice. A loss in which Ivory and Decker were not available doesn't fit that standard yet.

Depends on how impressive you think a 3-1 record is against teams that have been getting smeared by everyone else they've played. QB is the position you don't fool yourself about with deceptive early season records.

Hey, if the guy can put together a complete game and get rid of the mental errors (throwing into double and triple coverage consistently) and stick with what works for him (game managing) then I'm all for Fitz keeping the job.

But if it's more of the same and they squeak by a Miami team in shambles, I don't care what kind of headlines a QB swap gets at 3-1, they need to use the games available this season to exhaust their options.

I dont know why the coaching staff would ever think to create that type of controversy and disharmony. Switiching back and forth between QB's.

After 3 games, the Jets defense leads the league with fewest points scored by opponents, 42 points. Next best is Denver with 49 points. They have held Andrew Luck to a single TD and the Chip Kelly Eagles to 2 TD's, and that was a bad game for the Jet Defense. They are still coming together, but they have a chance to be very very good or even elite D.

Fitzpatrick has lead the Jets to 2 scoring drives in each of these games. He was mediocre last game agreed, but I would rather keep Fitz in with healthy weapons then create a QB controversy. Particularly given its Geno we are talking about. If the D becomes as dominant as it should be on paper, Fitz and the O will win the Jets alot of games.

A lot of us knew exactly what we were getting from years of seeing Geno in college and he's been exactly that so far.

The Jets have their chosen backup playing right now, the entire team knows who was chosen as starter, although I may disagree with who they chose.

The D can be as dominant as you want and no, we will not win "a lot of games" because the formula for that is a dominant running game (which you don't have without a dominant run blocking Oline) and an average QB with game managing ability, which Fitz has never been and will never be.

Fitz is definitely average, but what makes him average is his inability to come to terms with his physical limitations. He tries to be a gunslinger. He's not.

Dude, aren't you the guy that trashes draft picks because they don't run great cone drills?

Let me check my spreadsheet - yep, that's you!

His playstyle reminds me of Brett Favre with a weak arm, which essentially amounts to a 32 year old white guy running around in the pocket and then fluttering ducks downfield.
