You can do that if you want? They were a contributing factor, of course. But it isnt like they played amazing.
Did you miss the 2014 season? Brandon Marshall. He's a headcase, he cost us 2 turnovers. His horrible decision to lateral cost us this game. I don't like blaming single players though. It was a team effort. Sproles is just a very talented player and he made a great run. There were a few bad penalties, we had a really bad first half, but whatever adjustments we made at halftime worked on defense.
It hurt because losses are never fun, especially when they're self-inflicted, and because we've never beaten the Iggles; otherwise, it's no big deal. No one expected this team to be 2-0 going into the game. No one (sane) expected the Jets to go 16-0. We have a rookie HC and DC and they will make some mistakes, players are human and they have bad days and make mistakes, we have new systems, key players were out, we had a rookie starting his first game, probably our best defensive player still hasn't played a down, we knew our OL was going to be questionable, we knew our TEs and punter suck balls, and we knew that one offseason wasn't going to fix all of the Jets' holes/problems. There will be some bumps along the road.
I suppose if you just looked at the stat line you might say that. But if you saw the game you would have noticed that Quigley buried the Eagles inside the twenty, inside the 11?, 3 times in the first half. Sproles's run back I put mostly on the five tacklers who didn't do their jobs.
I was at the game and even I could punt from the 40 and down it inside the opponents 20. It's not hard. It's when he punts from the 10 and kicks it to the 50 every single time!
