What a clusterf*ck. The Eagles didn't win this game, we just flat out gave it away. I don't remember the last time I've seen a team this stupid. Offense, defense, special teams, nobody showed up except for 2 guys maybe. Powell and Harris. The rest either underperformed or completely sucked. Before the game I wasn't worried about Decker and Ivory missing this game, I thought Stacy is decent enough and we'd be fine without Decker. But man, what a complete mess. Those two are such a big part of what this team is all about, it just blew me away. I thought Revis would be enough to beat this division II Eagles team. They were missing a bunch of key guys but they still showed up. Our clowns unfortunately didn't. Anyway, let's get to it: - WR Brandon Marshall (10 rec. for 109 yds, 1 TD) I really don't care for his stats. This clusterf*ck started off with his absolutely moronic turnover when he tossed the ball to the defense. How dumb do you have to be to even think in THEORY that this might be a good idea? And how the hell do you actually then do that in REALITY? At half time he said this was the worst play in NFL history. That's still giving him too much credit. It wasn't a "play". He just had a complete brainfart. If they do a new CBA deal teams should be able to fine players for being that stupid. Marshall had a couple of drops, he also dropped another ball that was picked after it bounced off of him. Good stats, terrible performance. If he starts talking about how pissed he is that he's not considered the best in the game by the media I hope somebody beats him over the head with the microphone and shows him some tape of him looking like shit. Maybe that'll bring him back to earth. - ILB Demario Davis (6 solo tackles, 7 assist, a gazillion missed tackles) He's lucky he started out so bad and kind of stopped completely sucking towards the end while still sort of sucking. That kind of saved him from getting too much attention but that shit doesn't work with me, I see you Demario. I thought after last week we finally found something that this flunkie could do at a decent level (blitzing), and then he delivers another performance like this. He's arguably the worst tackling Jet I've ever seen, he makes Kerry Rhodes look like Jack Lambert. Missed a handful of tackles today, some of them for bigger gains. He was utter shit in coverage again, giving up a bigplay touchdown to Matthews I think. And he couldn't make any plays rushing the QB. I don't get why people are so high on this Vernon Gholston clone. He's got a couple of really legit fans here that believe he's not utter shit. I don't get it. What are you guys watching? - QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (Who gives a shit about his stats) There are certain things I really like about him. He's very smart, experienced, I mentioned during the game that he's a really good QB until the ball is snapped. It sounds funny but it's kind of true. He understands what the defense is trying to do, he can read defenses, his hard count is really good (so good that our guys even had false starts), he uses the hard count well and can identify the Mike linebacker. There was one time where he pointed out #58 as the Mike, then a couple of seconds later when he did the hard count he identified #59 instead. All that is good, this is the stuff young QB's can't do. But that's pretty much where it ends. When the ball is snapped he looks like Brett Favre in his 70s. He can't move, his arm is terrible, he's got no arm strength, he can't anticipate and on top of it all his accuracy is so off it's not even funny. Today I think Tebow would have even thrown better balls out there. There were about 5-10 times where he was so far off you'd think he tried to throw the ball out of bounds. Kerley with a 40 inch vertical, stretching and getting one hand on the ball on the sideline, how the hell do you miss a receiver like that? It's not even like there was a DB in front of him like you had to throw it over the DB. And how many times did he miss Devin deep? He underthrew him a couple of times, at least two or three times. Those should have been touchdowns, big plays at the very least. Instead one or two of them were deflected and the other one was picked. Just terrible. Send him as well as Petty to China or something where brain transplants are common and legal. Then get rid of Fitz' body and start Petty. I don't know where we go from here and what Bowles is going to do. We'll see I guess if Geno will get a shot next week but I think I'd stick with Fitz for another game. With Decker & Ivory healthy and without being down 2 or more touchdowns I think he gives us a better chance to win, he's a better game manager. But when you do get that far behind he just falls apart. - Shitsandwich Willie Winters (A bunch of turds) How is it possible to have the two worst guards in football on one team, playing the same position on the same side? How do you replace one pile of shit with another, possibly an even bigger pile of shit? I don't know why Willie had to leave the game but it really didn't make a difference. Him and Winters got dominated by a career backup chump who I've never heard of. They made this Bair character look like Watt out there, going after the QB on every snap, batting down balls, creating turnovers. Pathetic. - TE Cumberland / Kellen Davis Speaking of pathetic, it's time to turn our attention to these two clowns. Cumberland once again showed why Chan made a huge mistake by trying to get him involved in the passing game. I'm at a point where I don't even blame Craperland anymore for how terrible he is. If you give a monkey a gun and the monkey ends up shooting somebody, do you arrest the monkey or the guy that gave him the gun? That's pretty much how I feel about our TE's. Don't blame them, they don't know any better. Some people just aren't made to be professional football players. Some don't have any type of skill, they are completely useless. Cumberland and Davis fall into that category. Kellen Davis couldn't even make that tackle on special teams when this midget Sproles scored on a 90 yard punt return touchdown. Get it together, Chan. Don't let them anywhere near the facility please. Have them arrested if they get too close, I don't care how you do it just keep them away from the facility. A couple of guys who stood out in my opinion: - RB Bilal Powell (10 carries for 31 yds, 7 rec. for 44 yds) His stats weren't all that great but he really had a good game. I loved how much effort he showed, he had a lot of heart, made a bunch of plays when there wasn't anything to get out of a play he still got some extra yards. He was also valuable in pass protection. - ILB David Harris (10 Tackles, 1 Forced Fumble, Couple pass breakups) Once again had a great game. Make that 3 in a row. Does a great job against the run, had a huge forced fumble that could have turned the game around if our offense wasn't so bad today, did a good job in coverage, batted down a couple of passes, great hitter. But it wasn't enough, playing next to Demario he really has to do the job of 2 linebackers to clean up the mess Demario leaves out there, running into blockers like a moron, whiffing as he usually does. Anyway, Harris can't be blamed here, he's so far having a Pro Bowl type season, let's hope he keeps it up. I'm not worried about him. - CB Antonio Cromartie (2 Tackles, 1 Deflection) He didn't play well the last two weeks but today he did alright I thought. He had a really good pass breakup in the 2nd half, other than that he pretty much did his job, didn't make any big mistakes. He had one dumb penalty again (holding) but whatever, outside of that he had a clean game. I probably missed a couple of guys so feel free to add your players. Get it all out, you'll feel better afterwards.
Despite the limited plays to him, I liked what I saw from Devjn Smith today. He made a few nice catches. I think he's gonna be good for us. Only thing is that his production will be held back a bit because Fitz doesn't have the arm strength for Smith's potential for home run deep plays.
Other Positives. Bowles - Halftime adjustments on D -- were giving gaping holes in run game in first half, sured it up Entire D - Stepped up in 2nd half, I am not going to excuse the first half, but they did enough to give us a chance when we probably shouldn't have. Coples was actually having a good game until the bone head penalty at the end, he was noticeably disruptive. Kerley 10 yard average actually returning punts and not fair catching Kerely and Enunwa were getting open all game, so much for missing Owusu.
I thought he did fine, it was his first game. Some will say he should have shown more effort on that interception but that's nit picking. He's a rookie, he's small, he's not gonna have the same awareness or wrestle ability like Marshall. Had Fitz anticipated the throws better Devin could have had over 100 yards today.
Sheldon will be back soon. Snacks is useless against the pass. Mo did great, as always. Leonard is solid but he's not ready to be an impact player yet. Pace is trash, I haven't heard his name all game. Not sure why he's still getting playing time.
Coples I thought looked really good actually. Had a couple TFL I think, some QB pressure. But that stupid penalty is all we're gonna remember for a while.
Yea he's not there yet where he's going to know to react and prevent the pick. He'll get there. He wasn't open on that play, but he would've had a better chance had Fitz had a better arm and threw the ball ahead of them where Smith may have been able to win the race to the ball.
Demario Davis hasn't been getting it done and there's no depth behind him. So aggravating Tanny pissed away so many draft picks and drafted ONLY ONE linebacker for so many years before he was finally fired. Love the job Jets did this offseason but you can only plug so many holes in one year. Hopefully, next year somebody joins this roster that can really challenge Demario for that starting spot.
Yeah, did a good job on Gerald McCoy. Texans ran the ball well, I don't even think Mallett got sacked once. Said from the get go this wasn't a smart move but oh well. We're stuck with those two now.
Yeah, that's what you have to do. If you start flipping around at QB you have to be right or you just screwed the season. Sticking with Fitzpatrick until after the bye is the only logical move. If the Jets are healthy coming out of the bye and Fitzpatrick is a loose element in the offense then you make the switch, handing the next guy up a relatively healthy offense to give him a chance. What we don't need to find out this early in the season is that neither Fitzpatrick nor Geno are capable of operating the Jets offense with Ivory, Decker and Owusu out. If we find that out in the next couple of games we're going to be 4th in the division again. Better to let Fitzpatrick keep running the offense until he's proven he can't do that with the starters healthy. Then you go to Geno and see if he can do better. Whatever you do you don't feed the "Jets are going to destroy another young QB's career" meme by putting Petty on the field without everybody ready to go in support.
Refs missed a pretty blatant PI on Marshall in the end zone which ended up turning into a pick a few plays later. Could have been 1st and goal from the 1, instead we throw a pick and miss a huge scoring opportunity. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
bonehead cut. He's a young guard capable of starting in this league yet we cut him when we had a 32 year old with the legs of a 70 year old playing ahead of him
Yeah, Geno is too inconsistent. He's potentially a good QB when he's "on" but you never know what you get with him. He can win or lose games for you, well lose mostly. Whether you're up or down doesn't matter, he will lose games when he doesn't have to. Fitz at least if you don't get behind 2+ touchdowns in the first half gives you a good chance to win a game. Petty is not an option, he should be sitting this year, there's no need for him to play.
