We are so fortunate to have a SMART OC for a change, a guy who mixes it up nicely, throws often on 1st down (something the dopes we've had in the past never did), sets up nice screen plays, and orchestrates a great passing attack. He knows how to get the ball to his best player, Brandon Marshall....Morningwood would have used him as a decoy. He has made a journeyman QB look like a borderline Pro Bowler, and he has done it in the past with other teams as well. We should all be thankful that we FINALLY have a good OC! That's one thing we certainly can't complain about this year.
He knows how to utilize his best players, and he mixes up the game plan nicely. Some fans are blindly attacking him because we lost, but it was the D and every receiver not named Marshall that killed us today. Let's be smart with our analysis, not just emotional and reactionary.
Hey....question: how can Joe PHilbin actually be the head coach of an NFL team? He is the Matt Williams of the NFL>
Gailey is fine. He's a good OC coach. His gameplan was perfectly fine. Unfortunately we have a QB that can't execute and threw 3 picks that should have been more. Fitzpatrick is a tool and I knew his ass was going to cost us games. If Bowles is smart he won't stick with this turd for long.
Gailey is fine, Fitz predetermined all of his throws and couldn't complete deep passes. Doesn't help when you can't run the ball, and especially doesn't help when you're down 24 so you can't even try to. All around horrible by the O, hope it looks different with Decker and Ivory, Smith looked good and I like him as a #3. Shout out to the D for keeping a horrible game close.
This wasnt on Gailey. People underperformed and some even lateraled when they were being tackled. Our QB threw two ill-advised throws when we were in legit FG range costing us a possible six points. Well onto Fish and Chips in London.
I agree with the first thing you said, but do you really think Fitz was the problem today??? He didn't have Decker or Ivory, and he still threw a pair of TD's (thanks mostly to Marshall) and almost rallied us to a win. The D really let us down today, especially the run D which is usually our strength.
I had an issue with the screen plays, I'm sure he was trying to set something up for future use but the Eagles had this utility of ours scouted perfectly after being so good with it the prior to games. We shouldve adjusted to this much sooner, otherwise he called a good game. The problem, Fitz has been a career journyman for a reason, he had a very bad game, and it cost us being behind the eight-ball. This is what a game manager that has to throw 50+ times and was mostly inaccurate on crucial throws gives you in a game like this. If we are going to win, with this QB, we can't afford to fall that behind and still win playing to Fitz strengths. It's not possible. The injuries, dumb decisions by players, falling behind early, and playing flat, and relying on a game manager to bring us back, is what cost us this game. Not play calling.
Fitz is not a great QB. He gives us stable play but he isn't an impact player at that position. This is what we needed out of the QB in order to win this game, he was forced to play out of his natural strengths because of the game situation that was. If we get into these kind of games, we will almost always fall short. The only way we could've rebounded was if our defense got us more opportunities. Relying on a game managed to bring us back, is unrealistic. I'm not bashing Fitz, its just, he is limited from an ability standpoint. This type of game, is not favorable for someone like Fitz. Just being realistic.
Why don't we use that rb wheel route that were constantly getting beat with? Can't Powell effectively run that route or is he too slow? He does look slower this year...
