Yes actually... Did you talk to a professional about your lack of reading comprehension? The question is why after 40+ years this is a big story, NOT why is he important.
Well, you may as well get used to this as we have officially entered the Post-Ryan era of Jets football. Gone are the good old days of foot fetishes, Empty boasts and promises, dumb assed penalties, wasted timeouts, etc. Compared to those days, things are a bit dull around here and the media has to drum up shit to print soooo, Say hello to Matt Snell and his 40 year old grudge. God willing, the only things the media will be able to dig up going forward is Richardson's court case outcome, Geno's repaired jaw and a long winning streak.
I haven't listened to the radio broadcasts since I moved but doesn't Wesley Walker do something also. To your point this is a shame by the way, as Klecko & Chad Cascadden have potential to be more than SNY guys. Watching that post game versus the Texans/ Cowboys/Saints, man Jet fans are spoiled. Thats the most honest postgame in the NFL.
I think folks put too much stake in things like this. I was a little kid at the time, so I didn't see the game live, but I've seen it since. If Snell got 125 yards and instead of the TD Namath passed it for one, people might view it differently. It's a play call, I don't really think it means Namath wasn't the leader of the team or that he didn't orchestrate the drives. People like to say nonsense claiming that Namath is over rated, but in the era he played, he was great. He was the leader of the team. Just because Snell got the TD and a hundred yards doesn't make him MVP. It's easy to just look at stats and say that, but I feel Namath deserved it.
Thank you!!! Exactly what I meant. With Rex out of town the beat writers need to actually work. And they don't used to it as in the past the only thing they needed to do was shove mic in Rex's face and headlines appear. This is a non story. Some old player however important holds the grudge for not getting into Jets FO. How does what happen 40 years ago has any relevance to Jets now? Big fucking deal! I'm pissed off that there are legitimate topics to write about. Will O line hold, what's up with Kerley, Mo contract, how new coaches handling things.... There is a load of shit to talk about, but this fuckers have to dig out some corpse and write about old grudge. Lazy stupid spoiled assholes.
Snell is the only Jets player to ever score a touchdown in a Super Bowl. And he hates the franchise. Now that, my friends, is Jets Football!!
Another awful SOJF. only SOJF hate their own team. I am DAMN PROUD to be a jet fan and gladly wear their colors for the world to see. I don't see anything wrong at all with this organization,
They had a real good, solid team. The Secondary was also very good. Johnny Sample & Randy Beverely, Jim Hudson...etc. D-Line & Linebackers....That's why they won....lol.
For all the attention given to the offense, fact is the defense had 4 picks, including some in the end zone that kept the colts off the scoreboard. coaches like walt michaels and buddy ryan never got much credit or publicity for that. upon stepping down as the hc/gm in the 70's, both those guys got bypassed for those jobs as weeb hired charlie (non) winner, who just happened to be his son-in-law. and you wonder whu snell hates the team?
Namath gave Buddy Ryan credit, he has said many times that the reason he "Guaranteed" the win was because he knew exactly what Buddy Ryan had planned for them.
