He's pretty much the punching bag of the fan base right now. So it is what it is.

Actually, as long as Geno isn't on the field, people will eventually warm up to him. Not anytime soon though..

Really... Now you're starting to sound just a wee bit whiny. Enjoy the win and the ride. If and when it goes off the rails, we should talk about Geno vs. Petty. Until then, Fitz is the Qb. Not Geno, not Petty.

In the last 2 years Geno only had one two game stretch where he threw more TDs than INT. And we lost both games. Also in 2 years he only twice had two games in a row where he had over 60% complettion %. Finally he has only ever won 2 games in a row once in 2 years.

You can say its only been 2 games but this 2 game stretch for Fitz is better than 100% of Genos previous 2 game stretches.

The question is, If Geno was starting, would the Jets still be (2-0)? I was asked this and I really don't know the answer.

No we wouldn't...Geno would def throw an INT into the zone last night. More importantly against the Browns when they had the momentum I am sure he would have given it all back with a INT to Haden

It's pretty obvious that our fans including many on this board live play for play and don't think long term.

Just go over to the Colts forum.

    Blasting luck up and down.

I'd take him in a second.

I honestly haven't thought of Geno at all this season, except for the occasional shot of him on the sideline. He is the past now. Hopefully he can be a solid back-up this year and potentially next year.

In the last 2 years, Geno didn't have this defense getting him 5 turnovers a game (especially last year). He also didn't have these WRs to throw to.

Fitz is doing well right now and the team looks good. However to only come away with 20 points after getting 5 turnovers isn't that great. Especially when the Colts secondary was in as bad as shape (or worse) than what the Jets went through last year.

It will be hard to pull Fitz while the team is doing well, but it will also be intriguing to put Smith in to see if the team's status of "good" can go to "great" with a better arm and the running ability Geno brings to the QB position.

I know most on here don't even want to give him a chance, but you have to wonder if Geno has really turned the corner. If he has, you could be looking at a very dangerous team. If he hasn't, you can always put Fitz back in and continue on with the decent play.

The question will be...do you want to keep the status quo of being just OK or do you want to see if you can raise to another level of play?

It will be interesting to see if Fitz can keep this up when it is time to face an actual defense (especially if Decker misses time). Some of his throws last night were just terrible...no velocity at all...and just wobbled the whole way to the WR. Some of those would be picked off against a 1st string secondary.

Who cares? Has anyone ever become a fan of a player because hes great at cheering. As long as Fitz plays well he should start and Geno can stay on the sidelines yelling his head off.

All anybody here cares about or should care about is wins and losses..we have 2 wins and no interest at all in talking about any other qb then the won responsible for those 2 wins.

You know who else had no one to throw the ball to?

Derek Carr, Bridgewater, Bortles...yet, these guys never kill their teams with turnoveritis as much as our past 2 QBs have.

This is the right way to look at the situation. The job is Fitzpatrick's as long as the Jets are doing well and he's helping them win games. If that ever changes for an extended period of time I'm sure Geno will get another look from the coaching staff.

There's no controversy right now because the Jets are winning and Fitzpatrick is managing the offense well.

You have to remember that Ryan Fitzpatrick is a 10 year pro and Geno is just exiting his early career raw stage. Fitzpatrick's first two seasons as a starter were much worse than what he brings to the field now.

I swear I don't necessarily see it that way..if Fitz keeps the job through the bye then I really think the next man up will be Petty..he is the one getting all the reps with the 2s and will have been for 6 or 7 weeks by then. He will also be the one most ready to take over.

The Jets are unlikely to put Petty on the field this year unless they have no other choice. He's just not ready yet. If he was ready he'd have won a competition in camp the way Russell Wilson did in Seattle.

Great post and well said... People seem to have a very short memory about his on the field performance which was bad to terrible.... I said it before and I'll say it again, trade him at the end of the season if that is possible.

Plus he has taken a lot of ownership of the mistakes the Colts make on the field. I don't think he's ever thrown his OL under the bus like Bobbie G, Swore at the fans or distributed dick pics.

Franchise QB's that truly act like franchise QB's will always take the hit when the team struggles.
