Bowles is going to be all over that is my guess. Parcells tree coaches hate penalties and never let them go.
I had to post this somewhere, but Quigley did not have a good game. He did place I think it was two inside the 20, but imo any decent kicker could do that. The rest of his punts were mediocre.
If there is an area we need to upgrade its on special teams. I love Folk up to 45 yards, but his leg just isn't that strong. We don't have any real threats in the return game (with the new kickoff rules it's not that important) but JK is horrible as a PR. Our coverage units have been very good so far. Quigley though has to be upgraded at some point. Especially as the weather gets colder and the wind stats to gust. He could really cost us some much needed field position. I just don't trust him at all either
Some of them were just BS. Even the ones on the Colts. So toxic for a football game, especially on a monday night.
You could tell Ivory wasn't 100%, he couldn't cut much outside honestly. I'd like to see some Stacy just to give Ivory a breather. The offensive line run blocking wise struggled. I think Fitz wasn't sacked at ALL...he's been great making adjustments to coverages but the OLine was impressive as well pass blocking. The defense just seemed to be more organized, which is a huge change from the Rex era. They both have similar type attacking defenses but now the team seems to have better chemistry
In a dome no less... Quigley is the cream of the crap as far as punters go. Absolutely the weakest link on this roster presently McDougle not withstanding.
Okay. Do we have a shot to go 5-0? I am fired up but at the same time think we will lose either Eagles game or Dolphins game. 4-0 seems like too good to be true but maybe, just maybe we will win the next two and just bulldoze the Skins for our 5-0 challenge.
Absolutely we do. Philly is very beatable and we can definitely beat the Dolphins. I think the tough one is gonna be Philly. That's a trap game and scares me man
And forgot to thanks Ballhawk. Agree or disagree with him, he brings a lot to the table. PS: Multiple personal attacks today. I thought today was a happy day to discuss football stress free. Not talking about this particular thread. Seeing this in multiple threads. So sad.
This is far and away the most impressive defense I've ever seen with the Jets (even better than Rex's in 2009 and 2010). The secondary is nothing short of amazing from top to bottom and with incredible depth. Both the corners and the safeties are just incredible fits for this system. I can't remember the last time the Jets had half decent safeties and Pryor and Gilchrist are just solid. This defense could turn out to be a legendary defense like the 1985 Bears. That's the last team I saw that could generate the kind of chaos and turnovers that the jets defense seems to be able to do. When they play QBs that can't run with the ball it'll be interesting to see how many of those guys end up being able to play 4 quarters with the pounding they'll take. Can't wait to see what happens when they play the Patriots. The offense needs work and while Fitz has been generally OK he's been throwing way too often into double and triple coverage. He's very fortunate to have only thrown 2 interceptions so far. He also does not have the arm strength to really stretch the field. This may not be a popular view but I really want to see what Geno can do with this offense. He throws a great deep ball and with the jets speedy receivers he can really burn safeties dropping into the box to stop the run. His mobility can also add another factor that the defense will need to plan for. Finally, i think the jets were way too conservative offensively here - especially given the scrubs the Colts were playing as CBs. Once they went up by 2 scores they basically just said we're going to run on every 1st and 2nd down and then try to pass for the first down on third down and had a bunch of three and outs. It kind of felt to me like they almost didn't want to get any more points because (i) they felt then could get more if they needed it (and did so when the Colts scored) and (ii) they were worried about getting a big lead and then the defense relaxing. Nevertheless when a team is playing JAGs as their corners and blitzing and dropping the safeties into the box to stop the run you have to make them pay. Looking forward to see what this team does against the Eagles and the fish. Both teams with crappy Olines.
Yes. It would be nice if Enunwa could catch more than one out of three passes on average. But the staff seems to think he has something, so I will wait and see. Kerley cannot block or run like a rabbit. Got to be multi functional on this team.
I'm not sure if that's possible. BTW Even if Devin suits up next week there's no chance he takes over for Decker. He's just a deep threat at this point. My money would be on Owusu and obviously Enunwa.
Rewatched to see why we couldn't run until the 4th quarter; that Henry Anderson was absolutely unreal. He's gonna be, uh, good.
