The big Achilles heel of the Jets offense (we have a lot of turnovers) and the defense (can't get turnovers) in recent years However, based off our current roster what do you think will be our turnover ratio this year? Do we limit our turnovers and force turnovers this year to be a dangerous team to play against? Just look at our pathetic turnover ratio under the recent Rex Ryan Jets led team in the past few years: 2012: -14 (ranked 29th) 2013: -14 (ranked 30th) 2014: -11 (ranked 29th) 2015: ???
Alot of fans will say the above numbers are a result of the offense. However, the Jets defense has been at the bottom of the league in creating turnovers during that 3 year period.
We will be positive because our qb will not take risks and will settle for field goals and field position. We are also running a defense that is more predicated on making the big play instead of stifling the offense. Should see those int numbers go way up this year.
Bowles' defensive philosophy is based on creating turnovers. He values them highly. This year I expect a positive ratio but a lot will depend on QB play. We shall see.
All our corners have good balls skills. Cro arguably has the best hands/ball skills of any corner. We just have to create more pass rush and our offense has to help out the defense. If we're always down 7-14 points offenses won't try to throw a lot against us and when they do it'll be just short/safe completions on slants and screens and stuff like that.
With both Revis and Wilkerson together I expect big things from the defense. Revis didn't really have the luxury of a front line that can pressure the QB without blitzing until now. For the offense, it depends on Fitz and Geno. If Fitz stays the starter, I think he'll have a positive TD to INT ratio and our +/- will improve drastically. If Geno starts, all bets are off.
Still negative -5 to -10. I think we will create more TOs on D. It's a virtual certainty. I think we will continue to make mistakes with the ball on offense. The QB position is far too unsettled.
When you have quarterbacks that can't throw and can't see that is the result..let's see who the qb is this year before making a prediction.
So, if Fitz stays healthy and plays consistent...I dont think Geno sees the field as a starter this year. Then I think it would be -5 to 0 for me. People will try to limit throws to Revis, the good thing is Cro gets alot of INT's as well as holds/PI
