Stokes Do they do short routes as well? I like watching Sunday games at a bar but my wife declines picking me up after games so I end up watching at home. I am talking about 8 miles tops. How much do they charge for 8 miles and do they come for 8 miles?
Why are you busting my balls about being short. Yes they will do "short" routes. Not sure they do terrorist routes. _
Having said that, yes Uber will do pretty much any distance ride you want, if they accept to do it. It's kind of like eBay for taxis. You put in your location and distance and Uber drivers either accept the ride or not. Not sure how the pricing is set but they send you the price and you can choose to accept the ride or not. These are independent folks driving their own cars. If there are 50 drivers around willing to give you a ride, it's a buyers market. If there is only one car around and you want them take you 2 blocks to your bomb making factory in Queens, you might have to pay through the nose. _
Suburbs are harder to gauge because the volume of drivers isn't that great. If they have to come far to get you it might cost a lot. I think you might be able to preorder an Ubercar but I'm not sure. _
Have used it in cities and find it a great replacement of cabs. Never had a problem with them. Just be careful using it with low battery. If the battery dies before the Uber comes, no way of the driver contacting you if they can't find you.
Your average uber driver actually speaks English comprehensibly well. You'd probably prefer the typical cab driver.
I've used it a few times fine but last time I ubered this Nigerian dude showed up and refused to give us a ride BC there were 6 of us and he only had "room" for 5 even tho we told them on the phone there were 6. So fuck that guy.
Fucking nigerians. You think in Lagos they wouldn't let you or your livestock sit on the roof if thats what it took?
Its good...However it is only best during off-peak or NON crazy busy times. The way Uber makes money is from multipliers rising when the demand of a car is way higher then the supply. Its something they are trying to fix, but say you are at a game/stadium and are leaving at the same time as everyone else. The Uber will be few around and prices will be higher. Another is when the weather is really bad somehow they jump crazy. I was at the MLB All Star game this year in Cincinnati...The Uber ride from Kentucky to downtown Cincinnati was $22 bucks, by the time the rain hit and the HR derby was over the same distance and price went from $22 to $142 So that is when I was so thankful to find a freaking cab. Good alternate though.
Wonder what the percentage difference is in crimes committed by Uber drivers compared to licensed drivers. Not sure if there is but seems to be more in the news about Uber drivers attacking female passengers. That being said, after the UCF game last night we were waiting on my sons roommate to pick us up and apparently a couple were waiting on an Uber ride except they did not know what a Veloster looked like. I was able to point it out to them but just thought it was funny.
