Fitzpatrick's job to lose...I think the only way it happens is if he stinks up the joint, turns the ball over alot, or gets injured (knock on wood, please stay healthy) We may see Geno here and there possibly, but do you see Geno at all starting a meaningful game this season for the Jets at QB?
Hopefully this year will be the last for Geno threads. If we have to turn back to Geno our season will most likely be out of reach or over
lol People are in for a rude awakening if they're counting on Fitzpatrick for the entire season. His duck throws doesn't scare anyone. People hate hearing this, but Geno gives the offense the best chance to succeed. He was having a good camp and finally had the weapons around him to look adequate. I don't care if his teammates don't like him. No one liked Jay Cutler but you don't bench him for his backup if he gives you the best chance to win (note: I'm not comparing Jay Cutler to Geno Smith..just being hypothetical). Long term, this will become Petty's team (hopefully). Short term, I would go with Geno. He has the arm to stretch out the defenses. With Fitzpatrick, your offense becomes limited to short to intermediate throws. Guys like Devin Smith will become limited. Personally, I think Fitzpatrick will end up going down with a injury anyway.
I'd say yes. Unless Fitzpatrick has a near flawless year, which isn't likely even though we'll all skip for joy if he does, Smith will get an opportunity to show his stuff in this O. The jets may yet want to add a more vertical ariel attack to round out their offense at some point, we're not getting that from the amish rifle. no clue WHEN or for how long, but Geno will start for the jets in 2015.
i'm a geno apologist, i'll admit it, but i still said no i think we do well and fitz doesn't make enough catastrophic mistakes that we feel the need to start geno
There's no way to know if Geno will see the field in a meaningful role this year. It's all on Fitzpatrick and chance at this point.
I tend to agree, but I have a theory about Smith and the current CS. Everyone says the FO and the CS has no stake in Smith since they didn't pick him. True enough as far as it goes. But I think Smith is the kind of player who can mesmerize coaches. How? Well he does have physical skills. He hasn't always looked terrible, even if he does far too frequently. so, what's missing? Smith non-believers think that while his problems are mostly mental, they really can't be coached away. But let's say you are a coach and a player like him comes under your supervision. Don't you think it could be very appealing to a coach to take an essentially non-productive player like that and turn him into a productive one? Of course that could be said about many players, but as a Qb picked in the high second round, Smith is high visibility. Add in now that the previous CS, the ones you replaced, failed to do that. Wouldn't you look like a genius if you came in and somehow made Smith into a productive player? OF COURSE and again the CS has the incentive anyway to get the most they can out of the roster. But htat is the roster as a whole, and that often involves choosing to sit one player in order to let another player play. What I am talking about here is whether there is an added incentive related to the ego of the coaches that might give them a greater incentive to work with Smith than otherwise. Have at it Smith fans.
Just need Fritzy to just manage the game, Does not need to make the deep throws unless there is a broken coverage and someone is just wide open. But get us in the end zone a few times and let the defense win it for you. This is just a feeling but I think Geno had his chance to ride the train but the train left the station on him. Will have to wait and see.
The problem with Smith is what it has always been. His particular set of issues are not ones that are likely to go away. In fact much less than likely.
I think we'll see him but by that time it won't be meaningful as we'll be realistically out of the hunt. At which point Geno will play HOF against teams that are either resting starters for the post season or preparing for their holidays and make sure we aren't in a position to draft another prospect.
The perception that Fitzy can't throw a deep ball is misconstrued. Dude has a cannon when he sets up and has time. I can imagine something like this happening with Marshall...Oh man
That manage the game stuff doesn't work long term. Defenses cave offenses have to be able to win games. You have to be able to stretch the field you can just run run run and short passes. All they'll do is put 9 guys in the box and take away the run and short passes. We've already tried that and it doesn't work. You don't win super bowls like that. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
