The court case wasn't about if Brady cheated or not, the topic was what the commissioner could do under the CBA. Specifically appointing himself to hear Brady's appeal under the league's personal conduct policy. It is obvious from the evidence provided that Brady did in fact cheat. But that doesn't matter if the Commissioner overstepped his legal powers outlined in the CBA when implementing discipline.
He wasn't proven innocent. That is patently false. The judge ruled on whether the league properly followed labor law, and he ruled they did not. The NFL will almost certainly appeal that decision. Can someone please fix the retarded thread title?
It means every single Jet that gets suspended for dumb shit should appeal the NFL ruling until the courts find in favor of them and not the NFL.
Berman didn't say he was innocent. He just said that there was no precedent for that strict of a penalty (a 4 game suspension). And that Brady was never warned that any kind of such behavior would lead to this kind of a penalty. I wonder if the Jay Feely situation (as rumored) had something to do with his decision. It looks like in terms of on the legal front once again Roger and the NFL miscalculated. Interesting to see if they will appeal.
I'm guessing what it means for the Jets(fans) is that there will be 3 Cheaters planes flying over foxboro Thursday night instead of one.
Mods- can the title of this thread be modified to reflect reality and a rudimentary understanding of jurisprudence? He wasn't proven innocent and he wasn't even adjudged not guilty. This is like that jerkoff thread junc started about Brady being the GOAT and I'd hate to see this idiocy at the top of the main page for months. How about "Brady wins appeal" or "NFL loses Brady suspension case" or how about "Just stop fucking cheating you fucking piece of shit franchise that got away with cheating again". _
so cheaters DO prosper after all! a lack of precedent allows brady to bitch his way out of a suspension… because he's an entitled whelp and the precedents not set. there is no justice, the next CBA needs to be crystal clear over every punishment so that players like brady are properly punished and don't get off on a technicality.
the worst part? pats fans will be obnoxious as hell and act as if he IS innocent. a man that attempted to get ahead by taking an illegal shortcut will be rewarded for his efforts because of confusion over the limits of how much he can be punished. bullshit...
I do not believe this is over yet and the way this judge had been from the beginning I wouldn't be surprised if the NFL hadn't already prepared the outline for an appeal and were just waiting to get the ruling so they could fill in the details.
Beating the Pats with Jimmy Garrapollo would be an under achievement. So now Shady is going down the old fashion way via our DL He is marked forever as a cheater and the judges ruling is citing Goodel and the League for what they meted out to Tommie boy, thats all. From what I hear Deflatgate took the air outa his marriage. Hmmm...wonder what TBs bio will look like on Match.com or eHarmony. How many girls are gonna want to hit on a "cheater" lol. Maybe he gets to appear on Millionaire Matchmaker with that yappy middle aged yenta woman. SMH
You sound like they haven't been doing that already. This changes little, except that Brady gets to play.
How so? There was no evidence of any ball deflation other than what cold weather causes. The whole thing was a witch hunt from a bunch of sore losers. You know when you beat someone at chess and they think you've outsmarted them and they get really mad? That's what Belichick did to the league, and they tried to toss the board and throw the pieces around the room, but the law wouldn't let them. Julio
It's obvious from the evidence that not only did he not cheat, there wasn't even any ball deflation to begin with. Julio
All the red flags were there. The NFL set up a sting operation so to speak and the Pats fell right into it. The weather has been around forever. And has never deflated a ball to the weight it was in that game. If it did the Colts balls would've been the same weight. To my knowledge they weren't. Then you have Brady destroying his phone. I'm sure celebrates change their phones and numbers very often, but to destroy it when you are the subject of an investigation is very alarming. Brady is just lucky he's Brady. If this was a middle of the road QB the suspension would've never even got past the initial appeal.
The judge errs in turning over the CBA and allows Brady to get away with cheating for now. Does this change your perspective on how the Jets will finish in the standings in the AFC East? Now that the Patriots are cleared to cheat at will. Thoughts? _
