RGIII is the poster child for letting a system QB hold a clipboard and learn the pro game before throwing him into the fire. Yeah, they ran a spread in his rookie year and had success running his college system, but that didn't develop him at all and he suffered for it when they got a coach that didn't want to use training wheels for him.
That's the thing; a coach would have to slowly "take the training wheels off", so to speak. Slowly phase in elements of a traditional passing attack over time as the young QB gains experience and grows more comfortable. This is especially crucial if you draft a guy from a college spread attack. This is why the Jets do not want Petty playing this year at all. The Redskins should've hired a coach willing to commit to RG3 and willing to tailor the offense to his strengths and gradually input elements of a standard passing attack. This is what smart teams do. If you insist on putting a rookie QB out there from day 1, then you have to be willing to deal with the possible negative results and growing pains. I agree that most rookie QB's should sit for a year.
holy shit..a 1 2 2s and a player for rg3, are you kidding? just because washington was insane doesn't mean the rest of the gms in the nfl are. I would give a 4th conditional to a 3rd if he played most of the year...no more.
RG3 is just about close to the end of his NFL career. He was never gonna cut it. He doesn't have an 'IT' factor, he has an 'I' factor
What does Geno have anything to do with it? If the Jets made such a lopsided trade like that, Jets fans everywhere should riot and murder the GM for such a God awful trade.
As you may have assumed, I'm not an nfl gm, therefore, i have no clue what compensation would be adequate. The main thing i wanted to discuss, and the question i asked was if the price was right, would u take RG3? Sent from my LGMS395 using Tapatalk
If the price was right, sure. But RGIII doesn't have much worth these days because he can't stay healthy.
I thought Dan Snyder is THE dumbest person in the NFL scenery. How wrong I was. P.S. If Skins offered their 2x 1st and 2x 2nds in the coming two years just so we could sign RG3, I'm on board.
Why acquire a guy who's always injured who's teammates and coaching staff all hate because of his attitude? I want this guy nowhere near the Jets, I'd rather roll with Geno than this bum.
I would love to see some statistics that show where a high draft pick gets let go within 3 years and how that relates to success afterward. I say that because I can't think of one but there must be.
