Flip Bondy is not someone I even pay attention to but I had to read this article to see what he mailed in today to count for weekly amount of crap he has to write . http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/f...ts-unhappy-training-campers-article-1.2328010 So basically what is going on since the Smith jaw fiasco is everything that happens at Jet camp from now on is lumped together with that one embarrassing incident that neither other players or the Jet coaches had anything to do with. We have Geno throwing a ball to show he's coming back ( idiot but not like he was at a bar), players fighting at camp in the heat ( old school, great sign, nobody got hurt, coach made them work harder) and a player that under performed after the previous idiots gave him a contract when he did not deserve it being challenged by a younger player and the new coach not kissing his ass. Once again they take the same old jet line and apply it to everything that happens good or bad. Lupica did the same crap on Sunday. They are lazy and required to write X amount of articles a week and this being summer they can bang out an easy one buy writing this garbage. I am not saying the here we go again did not apply to what happen with Smith, but nothing since then does. It was handled as best as possible by coach and GM and these 2 did not pick either of these players.
I'm sure you didn't expect anything less..just another reason I am sure Bowles and Mac are thoroughly pissed at Smith for letting it happen.
winning changes everything. I'm sure Bowles will keep them focused and maybe even use some of the crap for motivation. right now everyone is feeling each other out and the players are seeing that there won't be any bullshit tolerated by the new regime.
If/when we win, we will win in spite of the media, but it sure would be nice if we didn't give them so much BS to write about.
the best thing Bowles can do is: 1) get the players to buy in to this new coaching staff 2) galvanize this group into a team, with a chip on it's shoulder. i agree, whatever he can use as motivation, including the notion of the media attacking them. that could actually bring them together, as well as get them playing angry. they don't seem to have any of this yet, and it's what i'm looking/hoping for. normally it takes a little time, but maybe this event will accelerate that timeline.
Adding to it is the lack of Ryan-ish bombast. Bowles is very tight lipped on things and I LOVE it. I miss Rex to some degree. But, I like that Bowles will not placate these idiots for the sake of back page fodder. Plus as has been said a few times already. We start winning.... yada, yada, yada.... But we all know these f*cktards will find something to splash across the back pages to help sell these rags.
They're all a bunch of PC wimps who never stepped foot on a field with a helmet and pads. Writers used to be a respected part of sports. But their egos have gotten too big and too loud. Why players don't tell them off everyday is beyond me.
I don't see why him throwing a ball is even new. If he was a hockey player, they'd a done surgery on the sideline and he'd be back in before the end of the game. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
As a player, we got into skirmishes all the time. It's part of the game. But as stated, they don't have much to report because Bowles is the ANTI-Rex ... So they make sh*t up as they go.
Alexander Ovechkin broke his nose in one game. Got stitches in the locker room, came back, and scored 4 goals. Hockey players are a different breed.
This why all the players should look like choir boys. Especially with a new coach and management. Loose players (no need to name them) give them ammo to shoot off their mouths and help re-create the circus. U don't hear this sh#t from the teams that know how to carry themselves.
The media is always going to pile on the Jets. It's good business for them. If we win a Super Bowl it'll make it harder to do that but if we win a SB and then immediately collapse again it will be like a 1 year respite from the SOM (Same Old Media).
well the media has successfully turned the majority of the fans against Geno Smith. Media 1, Jet fans - 100
The media just went with the flow on Geno. He's got 29 starts and it's hard to hide when you've been as bad as he has in so many of them. Terry Bradshaw was getting booed off the field regularly by those terrible Steeler fans and public opinion definitely ran against him being the answer at QB for them. That's because he played like total crap for the better part of two seasons. If Geno wants to get the fans back on his side he has to play a lot better than he has so far. He's got no room to be mediocre, let alone bad. At this point he may not even get a chance to play QB for the Jets again.
Years ago I stopped accepting most of the NY papers and many sport writers in the area as "media" but rather recognize them as "sports entertainment low life tabloids servants" They specialize in swimming at the bottom of the action, feeding on garbage and regurgitating it in the most sensationalistic, bias and humiliating matter possible to maintain their unnecessary existence. The NYJ on the other hand, have had the propensity to feed them enough garbage to make their miserable charter a God sent. Under the previous regime we gave them so much top of the line ammunition to keep them coming back for ever. Some of the remnants are still evident today and lingering on. May God helps us if Mac and Todd don't stop that. There are two ways to kill this beast. First and foremost stop providing them with garbage, because without it they starve and they move on to the next garbage provider. Even better is to have a no kidding meritorious winning season, in which case they have no choice but to kiss our ass , at least until such time as more garbage from the Jets falls to the bottom. IMHO the answer is clear....don't feed the animals, and show on and off the field that we are a winner. Everything else is gourmet food for the tabloid arsonists some call media.
Geno will be back soon. Fitz. is a nice guy and smart but if he was a top QB he wouldn't move around so often.
If Fitzpatrick gets hurt Geno will be back. We don't have other viable options for 2015 at this point in time. Fitzpatrick moves around as much as he does because he's a known quantity and the quantity is not what you want out of a franchise QB. He'll be the Jets QB until he gets hurt is my guess. The defense is good enough that the Jets will at least break even with him on the field and I don't see Bowles and company giving up a .500 pseudo playoff run if they think there's any real chance Geno will crash the "Porsche" if he's given a few starts. How does Geno build the confidence of the coaching staff back up when he's working with the 2's when he comes back? Cuz that's what he'll be doing.
such a known quantity that the texans left him for ryan mallette and brian hoyer, after a year in which fitz had some of his best numbers
Broken leg. When you're a QB of Fitzpatrick's ability level teams aren't going to wait on you to get healthy to try to build their offense.
