Well stated cromartie looks as bad as he did 2013 pryor still takes bad angles to the ball coples is not a LB mcdougle burned/ shows why most teams had him undrafted/ yet Rex burns 3rd round pick on him One preseason game does not make a season, but it does help to show up and tonight the jets did not
If the Jets look like this in 2 weeks I'll be a bit nervous. For now it's just a pre-season game coming off a very bad week for the clubhouse. Let's see how things tighten up (or don't) as Bowles tackles the issues.
Absolutely. Had Wilkerson and Richardson been in on defense, that break out run likely wouldn't have happened and our first team offense would have moved the ball again just as they did in the first drive. All I saw tonight was a team full of new or young talent nervous and playing for the first time together. Again, I'll worry later. Not after game one of the preseason
I think the most important thing I saw from Petty was throwing the ball away instead of taking a sack for a 7 yard loss. Football IQ.
There was not enough sample to gauge Fitzpatricks' play. He was hardly out there. I hated this. Everyone keep saying "he can't get injured," but if he can't practice actual football with the 1's then he won't be ready for the starting job anyways. The majority of QBs go 16 games without injury...just because there was one "freak" injury with Sanchez doesn't mean they should coward and take the QB out. Tackling was as worse as I have ever seen. I have faith that Bowles will fix this in practice. Petty did not look comfortable but he was playing behind an incredibly shaky O-Line and WRs and TEs who were dropping the ball left and right. We all knew Petty wasn't going to look good tonight...he's just not ready.
It is anything but meaningless, it just doesn't count in the standings but it is representative of where this team is at this point in preparing for the season and it sucks..really, really sucks..make all the excuses you want but the defense was atrocious.
Erased that shit game from my memory, on to games 2/3 where we'll see more of the #1s on offense. And if he can get us to 9-7 then he's worth every penny. It's literally what I'm hoping for out of this team with a fluky 10-6 as the best case scenario. I don't get why people treat a 9-7 season with Fitz as some sort of failure.
First impressions; the team looked like a team that just had their starting quarterback get knocked out in a locker room fight over the equivalent of $20 to all of us. Relax. If we're 0-4 by week 4 then we can all throw in the towel. If I didn't love football so much I probably wouldn't even watch these games.
Exactly. Called my dad up before the game and asked him if he's gonna watch it. His response: "For what? Preseason games are a joke and translate to nothing for the regular season. I've seen enough football to not care how the younger guys look until week 1" He's absolutely right. It's not just the play calling that's bland but the mindset of the players is not the same as a regular season game
I'm not worried about the missed tackles on the D. They were really sloppy but its the first live action. Also, we barely saw much of the 1st team D anyway so hard to imagine they'd play like that for 4 quarters. Petty though was bad imo. Not bad for the standpoint that he was a rookie and overmatched with what was going on, which was weird. He seemed to have a nice handle on the offense, wasn't rattled in the pocket at all, and was making good reads too. It was just his passes that were bad and that was most surprising to me. I expected the opposite. I expected he'd be lost, bouncy in the pocket but look nice when he did throw the ball. not the case. He threw with an odd, almost side armed, slow delivery and he had absolutely NO touch on his passes at all. Every one of them were fast balls. People will get on the receivers for not catching his passes but when you are point blank yards away and he's throwing fastballs like that- there is bound to be dropped passes. Thats on Petty. Maybe he was just nervous though, I hope so. You gotta have some touch on those short passes.
He said he was so nervous he doesn't remember the first 3 plays. It's completely retarded to analyze Bryce Petty's play at this point. He's a project QB that probably won't have a chance for the starting job until 2017.
Poor tackling. Can't get off the field on third down. Safeties Missing In Action. Linebackers can't cover. Wide receivers dropping passes. Just to name a few things.
