keep an eye out for Miles in the upcoming preseason games. he might surprise you. i think his role will be backing up Pryor, and he'll be good at it. he's not afraid to get in on the run, he can blitz, and he's physical enough to jam and disrupt TE's. i'm not sure on coverage though, so will be watching for that. but agree that Miles impact will be mostly felt on ST's. i tracked ST's (abnormally) closely last preseason, and Miles stood out almost as much as Bellore to me. very physical, and was playing on all 4 core ST units. i thought he'd make the team on that alone. Safeties are the most utilized position on ST's, so we'll need contribution there. i expect the other Safeties will be playing on some units as well, especially Jarrett and Pryor. it's hard to really hide your Safeties from ST's.
i don't think Bohanan makes it either. just doesn't contribute enough. the question of whether 3 or 4 RBs, and which ones, will be an interesting one. i'm leaning towards 4, as we'll have to run the football quite a bit, and these guys get hurt too frequently.
Even if we kept 4 we would only have 3 active on game day. On that reasoning i am thinking only 3 on the 53
Update. CB Javier Arenas (former 2nd round pick) was signed, IK got released. Shitty day. Jason Babin or Trevor Reilly just made the roster.
Yeah, I remember the Chiefs letting him return kicks as well. More competition for TJ Graham & Walt Powell I guess.

Interesting. The Jets just signed a CB the other day to replace AA. I can see signing Arenas if he was an excellent KOR/PR, but wonder why they released Ik rather than the new CB. Ik must not have shown them enough. Never mind. I have been gone all day and hadn't heard the news about Ik sucker punching Geno. WTF? I hope they arrest the SOB for assault. Idzik is looking worse and worse.
Good job. Won't Geno have to be carried on the roster? If so, one more positional player will have to go. The only player you have making the team that I disagree with is Brewer over Colon. I don't see that happening.
Right now i would put him on P.U.P Stash Richardson on the P.S. ivory powell stacy. If ridley is ready by week 6 make a decision than.
Not sure if this is the best thread, but with the question of how many wr to keep, and one possibly being kept primarily because we need some to return kicks, what about Cro at KR? Especially if Skrine ends up often outside if Cro is getting burned. Just a thought...the few times he returned kicks he seemed to do a good job and have an enthusiasm for it.
Post Preseason Game 1 QB (4) Geno Smith (Injured) -Will be carried onto 53 Ryan Fitzpatrick [Unnamed Vet] <<< Probably Rex Grossman Bryce Petty RB (3) Chris Ivory Bilal Powell Zac Stacy WR (7) Brandon Marshall Eric Decker Jeremy Kerley Devin Smith Chris Owusu DeVier Posey Quincy Enunwa TE (3) Jace Amaro Jeff Cumberland Kellen Davis OL (9) D'Brickashaw Ferguson James Carpenter Nick Mangold Breno Giacomini Willie Colon Brian Winters Brent Qvale Ben Ijalana Dalton Freeman DL (6) Muhammad Wilkerson Damon Harrison Leonard Williams Leger Douzable Stephen Bowen TJ Barnes LB (7) David Harris Demario Davis Quinton Coples Lorenzo Mauldin Calvin Pace Julian Housware Jamari Lattimore S (4) Calvin Pryor Marcus Gilchrist Jaiqwan Jarrett Rontez Miles DB (7) Darelle Revis Antonio Cromartie Buster Skrine Dee Milliner Dexter McDougle Marcus Williams Darrin Walls ST (3) Nick Folk K Tanner Purdum LS Ryan Quigley P Steven Ridley PUP Erin Henderson PUP Sheldon Richardson SUS Zach Sudfeld IR Antonio Allen IR Notes: -Geno will be carried into the 53 man roster. If they put him on the NFI list, then he will have to miss the first 6 weeks of the season. Geno will be ready to come back well before then and with news of his surgery, the new healing timetable could be shorter. -The Jets will still sign a veteran QB to backup Fitzpatrick until Geno fully comes back healed. Once Geno comes back healed, I fully expect the Jets to drop this QB and sign another player. Perhaps they sign a WR from the practice squad or a DT like Ronald Talley (he barely didn't make my list). -They seem to really like Ronald Talley because he started tonight. We'll see what he does, but I may replace T.J. Barnes with Ronald Talley at somepoint this season. On the long TD to Golden Tate, Talley actually got past the OL and pressured Stafford on a very impressive burst. Ideally I would cut Bowen and keep both T.J. and Talley, but they seem to be high on Bowen. -The CB situation is tricky because there's a lot of good talent there. Currently, Darrin Walls is listed as the highest backup CB on the depth chart aside from Milliner. Marcus Williams is in the lowest spot, and it would definitely seem as a UDFA, he's pressuring them to keep a 7th CB. His play tonight definitely helped his case. -I dropped Daryl Richardson as the 4th RB. It has more to do with the current QB situation than his fumble and poor play tonight. I think they'll feel comfortable with Ivory, Powell, and Stacy (with Ridley coming back soon). They need that extra spot for another QB more than they do for Richardson. -I'm starting to think more and more that Julian Hosware makes this team. He's been extremely solid in special teams and he is currently their option at fullback. It would give them much more flexibility to keep Hosware on as a FB/LB hybrid than keep Bohanon. -Erin Henderson was injured tonight with what he believes to be an MCL sprain. MCL sprains generally take 6 weeks to heal, so I expect that they will put him on the Active PUP list. -Bowles speaks very highly of "Q" (Quincy Enunwa). They put him in tonight ahead of Jeremy Kerley because apparently they wanted to see how he was as a blocker. I think he could barely make the team behind Posey. The key to him making the roster is KR. If Chris Owusu or Quincy can prove to be decent returners on special teams, the Jets won't feel compelled to keep a guy like Walt Powell or T.J. Graham. -Amaro was injured in the game. The extent of his injury is unknown. Obviously if it's a big injury, that greatly impacts things. The extra spot could open up another LB or DL spot.
Bowles really makes some weird decision depth chart wise. He's starting Talley over Douzable, which I don't get. Cro ahead of better corners. Colon. Pace/Babin. I don't get it. Will update my post later on, based on the first PS game. Yeah, I've seen Henderson get hurt. That piece of shit Lions Center (#60) dove right into his knees, he really targeted his knees and tried to take him out. I hope the league fines that turd.
If last night proved one thing, its that we either need to pay mo wilk or go ahead and sign evan mathis.
At this point I'd rather have a decent backup WR instead of Evan Mathis. Mo needs to be paid regardless.
Yea, I was suprised at Talley starting too. However, he showed really nice burst on the blown TD to Golden Tate. We knew Cro was going to be the #2 corner regardless of the better talent. Same thing with Colon. I'm not surprised at those two starts, but I wish they were different.
