Very true, perhaps some have already seen the best of Geno Smith and what he has to offer. We shall see though.

What does that have to with Tom Brady?

Shit, the jets kicked Lucks ass his first year, and Newton is STILL struggling a bit, so yeah.

But classic wisdom was at play when Brady came into the nfl. There were no plans to start him year 1. If Bledsoe's aorta avoids Mo Lewis' shoulder pad we may never even know who 'Tom Brady' is. Yes, he did get to play, but point was that QBs were drafted to sit, but now we have examples of QBs coming in and doing OK without the prerequisite 2 yrs on the bench.

You're correct that both were above average the minute they stepped on the field. Both did struggle some, Cam moreso than Luck. Cam was still struggling last year. Cam such that Carolina had to decide this past off season if it was going to bank on Cam getting them to the SB. Now part of Cam's struggles last year was due to injuries, poor OL play, and a change in OCs and offensive philosophy. His first year, he didn't have a lot of weapons around him, either, at least at the the WR position. He did have quality RBs and an excellent TE. One could make a valid claim that Cam is still not playing up to his talent level and potential.

from NY daily news post. and I agree

It's a quarterback league and has been for years now. Geno gives his best but he is striving towards being mediocre. The new Jets management and coaching were saddled with him and better understand that this fan base is a smart one and won't be patient beyond this season. Upgrade or else.

You are clearly part of the problem.

    Sigh...

Like, having common sense is more of a curse than an advantage.

I swear, dealing with so many people in this world that have zero common sense feels like a true nightmare.

Sigh. Sometimes I truly wish we could trade some of our fans to other teams.

Just be careful what you take in return.

Nice reply NC, very well said. Players are human beings with a lot of pressure on their shoulders and are by no means immune to the feedback they get, particularly from fans that are oblivious to the hard work and good efforts they put forward for Gods sake.
I think being positive about the Jets and showing support particularly in preseason send a powerful encouraging message to the team and players react accordingly. It conveys how much we want them to succeed. Showing confidence is a huge booster particularly for players undergoing a rough period, coming back from a miserable season or a bad injury.
Positive reinforcement get the most out of people, booing and belittling does nothing but display poor taste.

I don't think CAR has done a good job surrounding him w/ weapons until recently. Greg Olsen / Steve Smith were constants, gone was Steve Smith. Their running game never seemed to every stay healthy. I do think Cam has fundamental flaws in his delivery; his mechanics are poor, but he's still been a successful QB given the history of spread QBs and such. That has held Cam Newton back.

His struggles though, no where near the level of struggles Geno is going through.
