Antonio Allen hurt as he got out of his stance. Non-contact injury , severity unknown. Depth on safety took a big hit... Right leg injury.

Edit Aug 7th: Feared to be torn achilles effectively ending his season.

TB said Achilles injury. I hope it isn't season ending luckily we have pretty good depth.

Double A did all he could for the 2014 Jets. Played 10 positions a game, all pretty average. 2015 a year he can finally relax at safety, now likely done for the year. Disappointing for sure.

Very disappointing. I thought he was gonna be a really big asset for us this year.

Doesn't sound good. Probably done for the year now that I'm reading this. Hopefully not but he'd know.

Definition of a team player. Moved from playing linebacker in college to safety in the pros. Was having a good 2013 season until he was benched for the acquisition of an Ed Reed who was months away from retirement. Then gets moved to corner because Idzik didn't get any depth, Dmitri Patterson went AWOL, and Rex thinks he can teach anyone how to play corner. In a league filled with me-first guys, Allen is an exception. Hopefully he's fine.

well said. we've had guys who've demanded a trade under far less than what we've asked AA to do

FUCK no. If anything extend him. Rarely do you find a true love for the game. Not to mention hes an average to above average fs and special team ace.

Nah, he'll probably land on IR if it's a torn achilles and be back next year.

Well there's the first one who bites the dust. This crap happened every single year. Can a team go one a full TC and Preseason without a significant injury? Dammit.

AA so much respect to that guy, he was going to have a nice contributing role in our defense in my opinion. Get well soon. Hopefully it isn't that serious. But who are we kidding? We all know it is.

He's more of a SS than FS.

He was going to be a key player I think in this defense. Bowles had that type of safety with the Cardinals in Bucannon, he lined him up as a linebacker a lot. AA is much more than a safety, he can really play anything from FS, SS, CB, Nickel CB and that OLB spot where he either covers people, stops the run or goes after the QB. Sucks if it really is a torn achilles. Miles is a decent backup safety but he's nowhere near AA.

Which makes him invaluable due to his versatility.

Agreed. He's a good player, and I think that versatility would have him being an important part of the defense if he's not gone for the season.

I really don't wanna see a lot of gilchrist... this sucks... hopefully a safety from AZ gets cut that knows Bowles's defense can come in and be serviceable for a year...
