Jets Fans Pay to Have Banner Fly Over Patriots Practice

You have just shown what I have been saying and contradicted yourself. First you say they let Idzik go because the fans wanted him gone and put up billboards now you throw a list out and say the fans wanted them gone but ownership kept them on. Obviously the ownership does not get rid of GMs and OCs just because the fan base wants them gone.

Sure, here goes ... what I said was that the Jets ownership kept these buffoons around long after even average, ordinary fans became convinced they were incompetent solely because the Jets ownership really doesn't give a damn if the team is run or coached by competent personnel; all the Jets ownership has historically cared about (except for the last few years of Leon Hess' life - when he hired Parcells) is selling tickets. The only reason Idzik did not get the same ("eh, everyone knows he sucks but lets give him a few more years to prove it") treatment as the others is because the fanbase did not wait around to do the one thing that has historically prompted ownership to make changes ... and that one thing is embarrass the owner personally. This time (for once in the franchise's history) the fanbase immediately went about the business of personally embarrassing Woody once it realized Idzik had to go. And once sufficiently embarrassed (thanks to the billboards), Woody got rid of Idzik at the close of the season.

Further, the wonderful thing about this particular message board is it keeps old threads and there's a search function. Anybody who wants to see who is correct can go back and read the contemporaneous billboard threads as this was playing out. The board know-nothings were very vocal back then about how the billboards would accomplish nothing and all the billboard people were doing were embarrassing themselves. Well, Idzik's gone and the Intelligentsia was wrong.

 

Only banner Jets fans will see this year.

 

I don't understand what the big deal is here. Some guys express their opinion with a banner, others disagree but the whole "embarrassment" theory is ridiculous.

I also detect some jealousy from some of the buzzkill posters here. Just my perspective for what it's worth.

 

It's the only banner the Jets have raised in over 4 decades.

 

That what I say. If they earn it they can spend it the way they want.
