So this guy, Dan Hanzus, whoever that is, made a list of the franchises that have gone through rough times, etc. the most, including their fans. So he considers the Jets to be the 2nd, what you think? To me, the second place seems a bit higher than it should but it's his opinion, which everybody is entitled to one.

    "Same old Jets.

Seasons come and seasons go. As do players, coaches, owners, stadiums and Fireman Ed. Everything changes. Everything, except the Jets. For the past 45 years, they've remained the one New York team you can trust above all others to break your heart. (That's a pretty big achievement in a market that also houses the Mets and Knicks.)...."

Go to the link to read it all, it's quite long.

    Jets #2 is just fine.

The Browns will be #1 which is painfully obvious even to a Jets fan of the last 45 years.

wow so nearly half the teams in the nfl have never won. Amazing. And some teams like the Bills haven't even been to the POs in over a decade.

I'd say were fairly lucky to have at least one ring, and multiple runs through the playoffs. #2 seems really high.

The Browns are the only ones above us? Cleveland must be the sh-tiest market to be a sports fan in. I recently read an article where an NBA agent was trying to sell Portland to his client and he said, "hey, it's better than Cleveland." That's like comparing West Oakland to East St. Louis for quality housing.

The Browns won the NFL title in 1964 and then lost back to back Conference Championship games in 1968 and 1969. They were blown out 34-0 by the Colts team the Jets beat in SB III.

They were actually a middling successful team post merger but they lost 5 straight playoff games leading into 1986. They lost 3 Conference Championship Games in the next 4 years. They're 4-11 in the playoffs post merger.

They lost the franchise for 3 seasons from 1996 to 1998 when Art Modell moved them. The relocated franchise won a Super Bowl in it's 5th season in Baltimore and has been a consistent playoff team since moving, one of the AFC powerhouses.

The expansion team has been a sad sack for it's entire existence in Cleveland with 1 WC appearance and 2 seasons total over .500 in 16 seasons. They've been under .500 for 7 straight seasons now. They've had double digit losses in 11 of the last 16 seasons.

What's the bright spot? The Steelers were the NFL's worst team for a similarly long period before the merger when the Browns were fairly dominant. The worm can turn.

According to Eagles fans, the Eagles won two superbowls.
    1. When Herm Edwards picked up a fumble (and hasn't shut up about it since) to win and eventually finish the season with a 4-10 record or something like that.
    2. When the Eagles came back from a 28-3 deficit to beat the Giants. The Eagles didn't make the playoffs that season while the Giants won a superbowl.

I agree that the Jets should be #2 behind Cleveland. How could they not be? Who has had it worse than the Jets under that buffoon Hess, and with HCs like Holtz, Kotite, Walton, Coslet, and Edwards and the atrocious GMs we've had? Has any team had more draft pick busts, especially high profile busts, than the Jets? I doubt it. Even when the Jets got things right, they found a way to eff it up. The regime of Rex and Tanny is a perfect example.

Its sad that my first memory as a Jets fan is the Testaverde injury in 99 and the fucking punter Tom Tupa coming in

I don't think we are ahead of the Lions fans. They've had a tough time.

Browns fans obviously the toughest. Imagine the Jets leave town and 5 years later were watching them win a Super Bowl. Can't imagine that type of horror.

The Jets have had many downs but also many ups. This team is a roller coaster more than a flat fail like Cleveland. Anyone who thinks the Jets are the 2nd most depressing team in NFL history didn't watch the Jets beat the Patriots in the playoffs recently.

It can sometimes feel like the Jets are that depressing with some of the negativity from the fans, but it is far from reality. Personally, I think it will be that much sweeter when the Jets finally do win a Super Bowl having been through everything they have been.

This is exactly what i was talking about a few months ago when i made my post about embracing "gang green." the rest of league hates us and most of the time can't even explain why properly. We ride this roller coaster of a team together and when the time comes it will feel that much better because we stuck it through soooo much bullshit. It's articles like this that point out it is us against the world, so be it. Wear your green with pride, our time will come.

Growing up, my Uncle and Cousin were huge Houston Oilers fans. They haven't exactly carried over as Titans fans, and they have no interest in the Texans. I doubt there are many people in this situation, but I have to think they would have a higher pain rating than anybody else-- their team is gone. Replaced by another.

I wonder if Baltimore Colts fans from back in the day are in a similar situation.

I don't know if it's worse to see your team playing someplace else in the same uniforms or in different ones.
