My top 5 in order of most painful to least painful:

    1) AFC Championship game - NYJ@ Denver - January, 1999.
    .
    .
    .

    (plenty of separation)

    .
    .
    .
    2) AFC Championship game - NYJ @ Pitt - January 2011.

    3) AFC Divisional playoff game - NYJ @ Pitt - January 2005.

    4) AFC Championship game - NYJ@IND - January 2010.

    5) NYJ @ Baltimore - Christmas Eve, 2000.

*honorable mentions* - The last three losses at Foxboro. I could pick any of the three, but the Stephen Hill drop game from 2012 was particularly brutal.

That Stephen Hill drop really was brutal. Such a well played game by the Jets. Besides that terrible play, of course.

Holy crap too many to list. Forget the playoffs and championship games - those always hurt - especially the bills in 81 and pats in 85.......

Regular season games can sting just as much cause they go so far in determining ur playoff possibilities. I hated losing to the Seahawks in the early 80's. They gave us fits and cost us a chance to play Miami at home instead of the mud in 82/83.....
    86 Miami game 45-3
Scab games in 87....we had a decent team but the strike killed it
93 or 94 eagle game in jersey - big lead squandered - cost me a TV
    94 spike game
    97 lions game
99 opening day pats game. Enough said
00 Ravens last week so season. A classic jets loss

Gotta stir the memory a bit more for the more recent duds. Funny how that works with this team. Can remember some of the older moments better than the recent ones.

Ah, I remember that game like it was yesterday. I was just a kid. Boomer Esiason vs. Randall Cunningham. Jets dominated most of the game, then fell apart in a 35-30 loss. John Madden and Pat Summerall called the game. I also remember the next time the teams played. I believe 1996. It was a Saturday game. Jets lost that one 21-20.

This post exactly, though the 2005 Pitt loss is up there with 1 and 2.

Number 2 was the game that exposed Rex Ryan for the windbag that he is...he was never the same after that...

I blame Parcells for that one.....sticking with an untested Ray Lucas on a key drive when Odonnell was playing well....plus there was a lions int in our end zone that was clearly caught out of bounds but there was no replay rule that year

Yep. I wrote earlier that that game ended the Sanchez and Ryan Eras. So yeah, pretty bad loss. Jets fans throw out many "What ifs?" or "Coulda, woulda, shoulda's" . I don't, but I often think "What if the Jets win that game?" The Giants don't go to the playoffs or win the Super Bowl, the Jets possibly make the playoffs, who knows? Awful loss.

Unlike the spike game, where i naively held out hope that they would come back from that defeat, it was obvious to me at the time that this loss was going to hurt them

There are so many hard to nail it down to one. AFC chamionship game against the Broncos. Byers fumble and we were winning at half time. I thought for sure we would be going to the dance. Testaverde was money that year. The key to any Jets season is win enough to get home field advantage. They lost the Mud Bowl in Miami, lost in Denver and lost to Pittsburgh and Indy.

I never bought that reason because a week earlier I was at the Jets-Charger playoff game in S.D. I saw Pennington throw a bomb to Santana Moss for 47 yards.

I did not read the entire thread but the Xmas eve Victor Cruz 99 yard td game is definitely in my top 10 as there are many,,,,,,Denver championship game is by far my worst as I had super tix that year had they gone,,,,,,,mud bowl,,,,,Gastaneau roughing 20 yards Out of bounds,,,fake spike game ,,,,Pitt championship game ,,,,,playoff game against the Raiders when John Abraham decided to eat bad suishi ,,,,,,and so many that I have chosen to forget under doctors orders

^ That's disgusting. The sea gulls in NY do take dumps like that, I've seen that before, sickening.

The Steelers game was a week after that game though. So he still could have been injured. He was injured, because I remember the Jets barely throwing in that Steelers playoff loss, despite outplaying them.
