Chrebet. He was loved here but never got the recognition around the league that an undrafted kid out of Hofstra should've.
Gotta totally disagree with you on both. I think Richie Anderson was greatly overrated by Jets fans. He was made out to be some kind of great blocker and wasn't. He was a good complimentary player, but fumbled the ball too much. Marvin Jones doesn't even belong in the conversation imo. He wasn't a bust, but never lived up to the hype or his draft position. He didn't anchor anything. He was totally underwhelming imo.
Lester Lyles Joe Fields Matt Snell Lance Mehl Bruce Harper Freeman McNeil George Sauer Wayne Chrebet Scott Dierking Victor Green Kyle Clifton are all excellent choices imo. I have another...Johnny Hector. Think about all the big runs he had and how even when McNeil was healthy, Hector would get a lot of carries and always produced. I think Johnny Hector was quite possibly the best backup RB the NFL has ever seen. I think he possibly could have started for a number of teams. Another is Wesley Walker. Jets fans know him, but how many other fans know/remember him? Think about what he overcame to play with only one eye and how many big catches and plays he made.
Brett Favre. He doesn't get injured, we win the Super Bowl. Then Ken O'Brien. An all time great Jet QB who doesn't get the respect he deserves from some Jet fans. _
I agree on Kenny O'Brien. Maybe if Favre wasn't always whipping his schlong out to sext it to someone he wouldn't have torn his bicep muscle or whatever it was. Eff him. He would have broken our hearts late in the season or in the playoffs with some dumb forced passes that would have been intercepted and killed our chances.
Freeman McNeil - Pro Bowler who played behind the worst offensive line in the NFL his entire career. Winston Hill - 8 time Pro Bowler
Since I started watching, I'd probably say Brandon Moore and Matt Slausen. Probably more appreciated since they have gone and been replaced poorly.

Pete Lammons... a great third target for Joe Willie Randy Rassmussen bridged the Super Bowl Era & the 80s resurgence Dan Alexander...played every position on the line, 13 years 2 time Pro Bowler Every NY Jet starting center before Mawae ( including Schmitt, Fields Sweeney..a position the Jets have been blessed at) Lance Mehl injuries held him back Bobbie Humphery great KO returner A sad commentary BTW, and indicative of the difficult time in the last 46 years.. we've got a lot more over-rated candidates than underrated ones.
I could see saying Kenny O'Brien if the OP's question concerned people who have an agenda or are not real Jet fans or both. But I think Jet fans who don't have an agenda know he was a very good player. By that standard my own choice would probably not be overlooked, either, but I do think fond memories of him have disappeared too quickly for my taste, and here I am referring to Thomas Jones The dude was not a flashy back, so that may explain the lack of recognition. But in three seasons he only lost one fumble while gaining about 4,000 yards. Yikes that is impressive. Caught balls out of the backfield, too. A very solid player, maybe he doesn't get the recognition because he'd already played seven seasons on ohter teams before he came to the Jets.
Yep...not by me tho. He was a fine Back... James Hasty....'88-'94 I never see him get a nod anywhere amongst Jet fans. So I'm givin' it to him here. I was a fan of his. Maybe cause he wanted out, and he peaked with the Chiefs?
