Never said he stunk, it was a great game but where was he when we needed him most in Dec & January?

No it wasn't. They beat Miami and Marino a year earlier in 1985 on the night they retired Namath's #12.

That Ward play is very underrated, what a great game and that game clinched our first AFC East title

I was lucky enough to be at both of the games you discussed.

we needed either Atl to beat Cle or NE to beat Miami. Atl lost and it looked liked NE was going to lose too until late, that stadium erupted when Vinatieri hit that FG and the rest of the game we dominated.

    2011-2015 just a bad blur

I wasn't alive but I would think the most memorable play in Jets history would be Snell scoring our only TD in SB III.

I remember walking through the parking lot and everyone had the Pats - Dolphins game on in the parking lot.

When the Pats won that game, the stadium exploded, it became a virtual love fest in the stadium. People hugging each other, high fiving, buying each other beers.

Possibly the greatest feeling ever at a live game.

that Thomas Jones 4th down call in SD makes me sad. That was before Rex cut his own balls off. The Rex of recent years would've taken a delay of game call for an easier punt, punted, and then watched as the D got picked apart by the hurry up offense and likely lost it right there or went to OT.

I thought we had a special coach that day- one that played the percentages. Turns out we didn't

This is the best thread around here in years.

My top vote has to Matt Snell running it in in SB III.

Second goes to the Holmes TD catch in Foxboro.

I also loved this one "Braylon Edwards...takes two Pro Bowlers with him into the end zone"

I will when U truthfully tell us your age on 01/12/69. Oh yes BTW I think the MOST important play in NYJ history was recovery of the lateral because if that had not occurred there would have most probably being no appearance in SB3 by the NYJs

I was 2 years old. Yes, I was probably still shitting my pants, much like the shit you post around here, but I do not believe that disqualifies me from posting about Super Bowl III in a thread asking about the most memorable play in Jets history. If the OP had asked "What is your most cherished Jets memory?" OK, I get that my 2 year old memory is probably not keen enough to recall Snell's touchdown on a profound, personal level. However, I believe that Snell's TD is a watershed moment for the team and I'm entitled to consider it the most memorable play in Jets history. Now go eat your oatmeal - I suggest sprinkling some Metamucil on there for regularity.

Jerricho Cotchery's long catch and run in that Patriots playoff game was huge too. It set up Santonio Holmes's touchdown when the game was 14-11 in the fourth quarter. After that play, I knew we were going to win that game.

    @ the 1:30:56 Mark. I miss Cotchery =/

There were 5-6 game changing type plays in that game.

    1. Harris INT- they obviously humiliated us last game and easily marched down the field. everything changed at this moment even though we wound up missing FG.
    2. 3rd and 6 deep throw to Braylon. after slow start this play got the O going, it set up the first TD and a 7-3 lead.
    3. fake punt attempt. this set up the Braylon TD
    4. Braylon carrying 2 defenders into EZ
    5. Cotch catch and run, NE had just cut lead to 3 and had momentum. that play was HUGE
    6. Holmes TD which got it back to double digits.

Don't apologize for being young! There's so much bad Jets stuff you didn't have to live through ; ) Plus, your choice is a good one. I've been around awhile and it made my list. I attended the game up there in November when they blew our doors off, so winning this playoff game again on their turf in from of the same fans was HUGE.

Honorable Mentions - Sanchez to Holmes in the corner of the endzone for the huge TD against the Pats in the playoffs. I STILL have no idea how he got that knee inbounds!

I'll honestly admit that my NY Jets fandom level has waxed and waned over my life.

The most memorable play may not be the biggest, bestest Jet play ever...it may be the play that marked a certain moment where you were in life.

Champ69 hit the pause button on 1/12/69.

2003 playoff game against the Colts. Richie Anderson catching a screen pass from Pennington and running for a 56 yard TD...
