And he hasn't signed his contract yet, it really blows. This helps I suppose but I'm not sure. Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter 11m11 minutes ago Before suffering season-ending torn ACL, Dante Fowler signed an injury protection waiver that obligates Jaguars to negotiate in good faith.
I'm confused as to why everyone keeps mentioning Fowler not having signed a contract when in 2011 the rookie scale was inserted in the CBA. Gone are the days of giving unproven rookies $50 million, now each pick has a predetermined amount. A player and his agent know the exact dollar figures the moment he is drafted. They also know the length; every contract is for four years, with first-round picks subject to a team option for a fifth year, also at predetermined rates. As for salaries, the vast majority of drafted players have four years of non-guaranteed minimum salaries, accompanied by a signing bonus that’s not negotiated by the agent, but predetermined by the CBA.
Hate this part of football - I hope he comes back strong but even so, he's in for a really difficult time.
Everyone is not mentioning it, you're probably the 4th person to mention the slotted rookie pay scale
