Sorry, conversation often isn't static. So, you may need to exercise your brain and respond to goal posts that have moved. But, to be sure, you're basically disproving your own arguments. You've placed all this investment on how Geno sucks and then, responding to others, basically say the QB spot is meaningless because "it's a team game..." You say Geno sucks, but then add that there are/were many areas of suck. Well, DUH!! And some of those areas directly contributed to Geno's suck. Your simplistic views don't even stand up to YOUR OWN subsequent posts.
Bullshit!! They could be showing off Marriota right now IF they wanted to and if they thought he was going to produce more. And, please, they acquired Ryan Fitzpatrick?! That's "all they could do?" They spent over 40 million on CBs, brought in 3 OGs, drafted another one, traded for TWO WRs and drafted one. And all they could do for the QB position was draft someone in the 4th round (who will sit for two years) and bring in Ryan Fitzpatrick, a QB who has NEVER made the playoffs?! You probably want to [re]think that...
And they went right back to him after the OL got the backup killed. Moreover, if you recall, Smith had virtually the same cast of fuckups at WR for much of the year, after Decker got hurt. He had the same worst rated OG for the majority of the season. The WRs were soo bad that they had to trade for someone mid-season. Geebus, did you watch any of the games after you quit on Geno and team?
we missed the playoffs by a game, there were some spectacularly bad performances by Geno that season. that sounds great in theory but most of the TOs came in about 3-4 games that 2009 season. when you allow a last minute TD after shutting down an O all game it's on the D. A big time D is not allowing a TD in that spot. we had 3 TOs not 4. 1st INT- set up Atl FG 2nd on deep pass into Atl territory- Atl didn't score. 3rd one on 3rd and 13 throwing deep w/ 1 minute left down 3. where was this redzone pick? where was the 4th TO? we fumbled a snap on a FGA attempt from 19 yds out and we missed as 38 yd FG. that's 6 gimme pts and we lost by 3 but yeah it was all the QBs fault. as for Indy, we were down 15-10. that's a 5 pt difference unless my math is off. we have no idea who wins. Again, using this flawed logic we had no chance in SD down by 4 midway through 3rd but they played it out and we won. Please stop making things up.
You mean after we were 10 games out of the playoffs? I get you're a Geno fan but seriously, he was awful last year until the season was long long gone. And I'm a STH and haven't missed a live game since 2000 and haven't missed a game on TV in decades. _
Geno has played his best in the last qtrs. of seasons his first 2 years, he needs to come out and play like that early in the season. we can't have bad for 3/4 of year and good final qtr again. he won't get a chance to play in those final 3-4 games if he is as bad as he was before that.
Ok, but has fitz ever played with a better offense? I don't believe he has and that's why if he starts I think we can make a run to the playoffs with him.
And, apparently, some good ones too, in his rookie season. Really, I hate playing the hypothetical game because it can't exclude anything. yeah, we were 8-8. Would we have been that with "better" QB play? Maybe. Who knows? I certainly don't. Maybe our "better" QB gets injured in a taxi accident. Or maybe the record still isn't one game better. I know, in the end, it really is pure speculation.
Because the entire team was awful!! You just don't get that, do you?! the OGs were awful. The WR corps was awful (Decker was injured for much of that stretch); I guess Geno was supposed to make David Nelson into Randy Moss and Salas into Wes Welker. The 3rd down defense was awful. it wasn't just Geno who sucked. I mean I get it, you're NOT a Geno fan, but are you really a fan of David Nelson and Brian Winters and whoever was playing CB then? Cause they sucked worse than Geno did.
outside of the Atlanta game he was pretty awful the first 3/4 of that season. w/ better QB play we could have squeezed out another game or 2.
Everything is the Jets QB's fault: they are terrible and the only reason the Jets suck. Meanwhile virtually half the team and its leadership have been turned over... I mean, if the defense is on a track to be the worst turnover producing defense in the history of the NFL, which the Jets defense was, how is that Geno Smith's fault? and if the defense was one of the worst 3rd-down defenses in football last year, how is that the QB's fault? If the OG was rated THE WORST in football, how is that the QB's fault? If the entire OL was rated 31st in the league, how is that the QB's fault? If Smith's "best" receiver for the majority of two seasons was Jeremy Kerley, how the fuck is he supposed to put up numbers? GTFOH!!
I am not anti-Geno, he was not ready to play in 2013. he was forced to play b/c our dopey GM Our OL was not bad in 2013, I don't care what rankings say. an indecisive QB can make an OL look much worse than they actually are.
IF everything else remained the same...which, of course, we can't really say or expect. Please move on from this unprovable argument.
Teams with losing records "make the playoffs all the time"?????? Only 4 teams with losing records have ever made the playoffs.
regarding the OL: Objective rankings AND subsequent personnel moves say otherwise. But you've got your ranking system I'm sure.
