Hate to be that guy, but what has Mac really done so differen't than Idzik? Difference seems to be that Idzik couldn't spend money / had to fix out salary cap and Mac had all that money to spend. -Cut old scouts / people from old regime - Everyone does it -Work with a defensive minded coach and hire a new OC - Both did it I like what Mac is doing, I like our draft, I like our team. But we haven't won a game yet. We haven't seen any improvements yet. All this love is way too early. Now if Bowles can coach, our rookies perform, and he keeps us in a good position FA I will change my tune. This team fires GM's every few years. Purely sickening.
Maybe they weren't fired, rather their contracts were not renewed and they were dismissed upon completion of their deal
Idzik never ever addressed the cornerback position, absolutely no replacement of any kind. Same with the WR's we had who were total garbage. On corners, once we found out he never engaged with Brandon Flowers that is when things began to snowball. Also, the random Harvin trade slightly derailed our tank.
Brendan Prophett was w/ the team since 2000 - director of pro personnel. I am glad Mac is taking full control, ultimately the success (and failure) of the Jets lies with him, so I hope he continues his way of thinking. Unlike that pussy Idzik that wasted seasons just to get Rex removed.
No surprises here. If I recall there were some articles speculating that a further house cleaning would occur after the draft was completed. Kudos the Mac for keeping the train moving forward!
with FA and the draft now over, Mac has his 3rd major endeavor underway. he insisted on more resources used for scouting, and now needs to put that plan underway. both a philosophical and personnel overhaul of our approach to evaluating talent. his moves here will be basis for our future... long overdue and well needed. changing our FO approach is the main reason i'm excited to have Mac onboard.
Everyone except Idzik. Which scouts did he fire? Which pro personnel employees did he fire? Mac actually made a lot of good FA moves, Idzik only made 1 or 2 good ones and the rest sucked. Mac made some great trades, Idzik made 1 good trade. Mac got some talent and speed. With the exception of Richardson, and maybe a few others, Idzik got bubkis. There's no comparison. While I can certainly understand your cynicism, it's truly over the top. You're going to miss out on some of the fun. Try to relax and enjoy the ride for your sake.
Uhmmm no....he just wants his own guys just like Coaches want there own staff regardless if someone is good at there job doesn't matter sometimes.Id rather work with people I've known for years then get someone I don't know jammed down my throat
And the dynasty in Foxboro began because their coach saw that our owner was a doofus. Keeping scouts and pro personnel directors around for multiple regimes is what slapdick franchises do. Its why the Knicks have sucked as well.
Mac made some great trades?? Do you have a crystal ball or some information about the future none of us know?We won't know if they were "great" trades until the end or middle of this upcoming season.Sure they look ok on paper but none of them were amazing trades.I'm tired of trading for someone elses problem Harvin,Holmes and now Marshall. They all fit the same mold I don't have high hopes for Brandon Marshall he is 31 ,I expect to see him catch 50 balls for 500 yards or so and 3 Tds
Well you have strangely low expectations. Unless you are planning on him having injury issues he will do better than that. Marshall has been one of the best receivers in the NFL and is a true red zone threat for us. When people say Mac has made great trades yes it means on paper but that is all we have so far. So far they look like good trades.
I like the Bryce Petty and Zac Stacy trades,I'm not a fan of trading for veteran WRs with a history of issues which seems to be a trend lately.Fitzpatrick is Fitzpatrick that trade just provides a veteran QB who hasn't done shit since he arrived in the league in 2005.He will be there if we need him to be
