Maninon? Field position without a QB is critical why i think it would be awesome to look to improve that in the team
Nugent was a major reach. Bradway foolishly thought Jets were "one player away" after Doug Brien came up short in that heartbreaking playoff loss in Pittsburgh. It's uncanny how Belichick keeps nailing it with these kickers, first Vinatieri then Gostkowski. For every game like the last 15 years they've pretty much had an elite kicker.
Another really good player on the board which we won't take is Justin Hardy WR from ECU. Both him and Diggs will be steals this round.
In the minority. Petty. The guy has a good personality that I think will gel with the team. He has the perfect size, big hands and a pretty good arm. He can sit the bench and learn the offense for a year while Geno does whatever he does. If Geno has a good year, great. If he turns to shit, then Petty should be ready by then. I dont think he is a guy you should throw to the wolves in the beginning. But I think growing pains would do anyone good, especially since Petty is an extremely hard worker. I hate the system he played in, with quick screens and first read throws. But I think he can get past that quickly. I dont have much stock in Fitzpatrick coming off a broken leg and being 33 mid season, it just doesnt sit well with me. Plus, I dont know if Geno will progress and this team is built to win games. If Petty can get a hold of the system, I really think he can be successful. All the tools and im sure hes a pretty smart guy too. I just think he would be the best QB to take and mold. Dont like any other QB after Petty, so once he is off the board, take OL for sure.
Day 3 Targets: 1) TJ Clemmings OL 2) Brett Hundley QB 2B) Rashad Green WR 3) Ifo Ekrpre Olomu CB (He's really good) 4) Bryce Petty QB 5) Jay Ajayi RB 6) Jeremy Langford RB 7) Justin Hardy WR I want Jets to either get Petty or Hundley, I badly want to steal Ifo Ekpre Olomu. And if there's any chance to get Jay Ajayi too that would be awesome.
I like Petty allot and would easily take him as our fourth round pick. Ajayi, Olomu are also possbilities and as far as later rounds I actually would like it if we took Antwan Goodley. It would make allot of sense if we do take Petty and definitely would bolster a fairly deep group of receivers for training camp.
Clemmings or Ajayi. I'll be gutted if they are on the board and we take some other player from leftfield - I'm 'meh' with the Day 2 picks.
I think we are all stocked up on WRs. In addition to Decker and Kerley we traded for Brandon Marshall and picked up two in this draft. That doesn't even count Shaq Evans or anyone else that was on our roster last year. Clyde Gates played his last game as a Jet.
I want Clemmings real bad but could live with Tull. If we are lucky Tull will slide to round five and we can get both.
I want Clemmings, David Cobb, Josh Shaw or Tyrus Thompson in the fourth. Think that Gerold Holliman could be a steal here in case Gilchrist doesn't pan out. Obviously team has done work on Petty/ Hundley so have to wonder if they would take a shot even if not BPA Guys are clearly staying away from Ajayi because he has serious knee issues. He would be long gone.
I agree this is the time to take some OL depth who maybe will develop and possibly a RB as I am told there are still some good ones left.
T.J. Clemmings or Jay Ajayi (who I recently found out is actually British (though he moved to the States when he was just 7)) in the fourth please
Agreed on this whole post. Petty has the right physical tools and a good attitude to succeed in the NFL. Take him to be the #3 and develop him as a project. If it doesn't work out so be it, but I believe that as long as the Jets don't have a QB, they should select one every single year until they do.
