[ There's a lot of difference between contacting the person directly and arranging an interview date as opposed to blabbing to the newspapers that they want to talk to him. Either way, I agree that he can't win a lawsuit against the cops even if he has absolutely nothing to do with it.
Are we sure that's how it went down? These guys have the most public lives for the last 2 weeks leading up to the draft. People would notice no matter what.
No--I'm not sure. Maybe they contacted him quietly and his people blabbed about it? Unlikely but possible.
Holy shit--it could be he had her offed so he wouldn't have to pay alimony/child support with the riches he expected. If so, boy is he an idiot.
So far no facts have emerged that sound like Collins has done much of anything. For his sake and ours I hope we draft the kid if he is there in round 3-5.
IDK, police haven't heard from this guy http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/04/29/police-say-they-havent-heard-from-lael-collins/ Maybe he is hoping someone drafts him to get a better lawyer? Man, he's such a good prospect too.
that was written 14 hours ago while he was flying back, more hack journalism..i'm sure they have by now.
This link is from 9am today and is from the New Orleans press. http://www.nola.com/lsu/index.ssf/2015/04/lsu_lael_collins_murder_invest.html
LOL--this is an excerpt right above the ian rapoport box: BRPD Cpl. Don Coppola Jr. said Thursday "no contact has been made by Collins or any representative" with police investigators. Coppola would not confirm the report of a paternity test. Could be its trash--wouldn't bet on the accuracy.
ProFootballTalk @ProFootballTalk 4m4 minutes ago La'el Collins to set meeting with police after draft http://wp.me/p14QSB-9LfL haha..I guess they heard from him after all.
Nice so if he is innocent of everything the cops just cost this kid 15-20 million dollars as he probably goes from a top 15 pick to undrafted now. Ian Rapoport @RapSheet 3m3 minutes ago .@AlbertBreer reports La’El won’t meet with police until post-draft. I’m told police aren’t done with their investigation, not ready for him
Sometimes they don't interview the prime suspect until its time for the arrest. Think it went this way with A. Hernandez. Now it looks like the cops announced it to watch what he would do--it's also interesting he was already in Chicago. It would be a great alibi to be in Chicago when the girl bought it. Seemed to get there pretty early.
The NFL should move him to the supplemental draft. It would probably be the fairest solution for all involved.
