After filling most of our needs through FA, we can let the board fall to us and take BPA in rounds 2 and 3 where it makes sense. I guess we can eliminate DL and CB with the early picks, so I'll just throw some possible targets out there: 2nd round: Edge Rusher Eli Harold, Virginia: Played both DE and OLB in College, should be the best pass rusher available of he makes it out of round 1. OT D.J. Humphries, Florida: There are a lot of different opinions and rankings regarding OTs out there. One of the top 6 guys (Scherff, Peat, Collins, Clemmings, Flowers, Humphries) should drop to the top of the 2nd round. OL Cam Erving, FSU: Would give us a lot of flexibility, backing up multiple positions before taking over a starting job 1-2 years later. RB Todd Gurley, Georgia: Probably won't be there, but if he drops because of his injury, he would be a steal. ILB Benardrick McKinney, Mississippi State: Traditional linebacker, would be the heir apparent to David Harris. WR Jaelen Strong, ASU: DGB and the emergence of Perriman could push him to the 2nd round. Could sit and learn behind Marshall for 2 years before taking over. LB Shaq Thompson, Washington: Wild card pick; there are concerns about his actual position, but could be an asset in Bowles dime looks as a rangy and versatile linebacker. 3rd round: Edge Rusher Hau'oli Kikaha, Washington: Productive rusher, but with injury concerns (2 ACLs) OT Ty Sambrailo, Colorado State: Probably the best OL at this point if available. OT Cedric Ogbuehi, Texas A&M: Poor senior year and knee injury could push him to the 3rd round. ILB Paul Dawson, TCU: Talented linebacker, but workouts and character issues could drop him. WR Tyler Lockett, Kansas State: Speedy Receiver with dynamic returning skills, likely limited to slot duty. Could be what Jalen Saunders was supposed to be. WR Rashad Greene, FSU: Great route runner, questionable speed/ size. Could develop into a solid Nr. 2. RB Duke Johnson, Miami: Similarly to Gurley above, would be to good pass up if he falls. What do you guys think? Would you be OK with those picks? Who else are you targeting in rounds 2 and 3?
Love Rashad Greene. Also Phillip Dorsett and Tony Lippett too. I would love to draft TJ Yeldon. I know folks hate his drops but I still like Funchess. I like the TE out of Delaware Nick Boyle. I don't know whether Shaq Thompson gets to day 2. I love Jamison Crowder and Kaelin Clay as a return men. And not a great prospect but just for the name Prince Tyson Gulley! _
Definitely some good players there, but you left out several: at WR - Phillip Dorsett, Devin Smith & Jamison Crowder; at OG - Laken Tomlinson, A.J. Cann, Ali Marpet, & Tre Jackson; at RB - Ameer Abdullah, Jay Ajayi, Tevin Coleman, David Johnson & TJ Yeldon; at ILB - Eric Kendricks, Stephone Anthony, & Denzel Parryman; at OT - Jake Fisher, Ty Sambrailo & Daryl Williams (and maybe Flowers or Clemmings).
I'm a University of Michigan senior and huge Wolverines fan. I would HATE if we drafted Funchess with anything more than a third round pick.
depends on what happens at 6. if we take Mariota or winston I would like to draft a fast pass catching RB like duke johnson. if we take BPA passh rusher at 6th i would want bryce petty.
Brett Hundley. If he lasts that long. I like Lockett. Seen him mocked to us in the 2nd. Smaller but very athletic. Would be sick if Strong fell that far to us tho. I wouldn't take a RB until the 3rd. Too much depth there.
Before the revision of our secondary, Marcus Peters was my call for the second round. Obviously, not a need now. If Erek Flowers falls to the second, it's a no brainer. I'm not sure if I'd take a QB on day 2, as I don't see a huge gap between those players and the day 3 crowd. If we miss out on MM, wouldn't mind taking a 7th on Bridge. (Really nice deep ball - has that arc that drops it in)
I would definitely consider this guy http://www.rotoworld.com/headlines/cfb/41286/cff-wr-dorsett-only-dropped-one-pass-in-2014
Eli Harold Phillip Dorsett Devin Smith DJ Humphries Jake Fisher Nate Orchard Laken Tomlinson Jamison Crowder Duke Johnson Jay Ajayi Ameer Abdullah Tevin Coleman Clive Walford
I honestly think that if Phillip Dorsett is sitting there at the top of the second, we will take him. I just think he would fit into this offense so well, I don't think you could pass him up.
I'm hoping for that. He knows how to get into space too, on top of the mad skills. I think he's got 'it' Not likely Strong makes it down there. Was a fan of his @AZS If they ever dropped[issues risks]: Gregory[neva happen tho], Green-Beckham
Tre Jackson, Jay Ajayi, Ameer Abdullah, or Donovan Smith? *edit* or any QB not named Winston or Mariota?
Not sure exactly when he will go but a player I LOVE in the mid rounds is Justin Hardy from East Carolina. The kid is as reliable as it gets. Great hands, great use of the body, instinctive wide receiver. He was also great at adjusting to poor passes (we might need that here). East Carolina chucked the ball all over the field and that's great for wide receivers to learn. Its his measureables that are bringing him down, not anything on the field, very productive. I don't think he'll be a star per say as he doesn't have the athleticism/size to play at a pro bowl level.. but I think he will be good, reliable 3rd receiver in this league. Those guys are increasingly becoming important. I'd compare him to a Jerricho Cotchery type NFL career. also- I don't understand the obsession with Jay Ajayi on this board. seems pretty pedestrian to me in a draft full of good running backs. I can list many Id rather have than him.
