You are kidding aren't you? He still won a Super Bowl and deserves the trappings that come with that. Why not meet the Prez AND gloat over the new contract you just got?

I have ZERO problem with this.

He realizes this is probably the only chance he'll ever have to do this.

    (I kid, I kid... ;))

Can't be the first time this has happened. It does seem kind of weird given the rivalry

Gotta agree with roger here.....think of how awesome it'd be if Revis went on ESPN and said he declined the invitation and would be going next year.

Besides, Obama should have dropped in on Revis Christ Easter Sunday.

Why do they wait so long to visit? The game was almost 3 months ago.

Hahah! Yea, I thought of that but still thought 3 months is a while. You got a point though.

There are scheduling conflicts on both sides. As great as an honor it may be, I can't imagine any team would want to even consider doing anything until after the draft. Everyone is pretty much out straight from end of season to free agency to getting ready for the draft.

Who cares. The president meets with the MLS championship team and he doesn't give a sh__ about soccer. It's smoke and mirrors BS.

It is kind of unbelievable when you think about it. Especially with this particular president, he loves to be in with pop culture.

They were waiting for either (i) the Deflate Gate investigation to be over or (ii) an entire first degree murder trial to be completed so at least one of the scandals dogging the Pats was out of the way before they showed up at the White House.

It probably took this long for the Secret Service to finish their background checks of the Pats roster even working around the clock, who knows how many more murderers they have on their team

    Obama takes piss on D-Gate

Obama praises Patriots, makes a Deflategate joke

President Obama welcomed the Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots to the White House today and praised them as America’s finest sports franchise — but also cracked a joke about Deflategate.

“The Patriots organization is as good an organization as there’s ever been in professional sports. To be able to maintain that kind of consistent excellence is a rare thing in any field, including on the football field. And that’s a testament to outstanding ownership. It’s a testament to a Hall of Fame coach,” Obama said.

Obama then moved on to a joke about the Patriots allegedly deflating footballs in the AFC Championship Game.

“I usually tell a bunch of jokes at these events, but with the Patriots in town I was worried that 11 out of 12 of them would fall flat,” Obama said, to mostly groans from the audience.

“That whole story got blown a little out of proportion,” Obama said.

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady did not attend, citing a scheduling conflict, but Obama named Brady first when running down the accomplishments of the Patriots’ players. Obama called Brady and Bill Belichick the best coach and quarterback combination in football history.
