It would take a lot of guts to pass on Mariota. There's much mystery surrounding him and what the front offices of NFL teams really feel about him. He could go as high as 1 or drop to 10-20. If on the board at 6 Mac will probably and should probably select him.
If Mariota drops to the 10-20 range, I'm applying for the GM job at every one of the franchises that passed on him, because that means I have a better eye for talent than any of those clowns do.
How do we know you're not that great talent evaluator, John Idzik in disguise! But honestly some of the prognosticators have predicted Mariota going in the second ten. I'm not as sold on him as you are but I'd take him at 6 but not trade up for him.
I actually do know what I'm talking about, maybe that's the issue. What else does Dupree need to work on? What's a LOT more? This isn't a thread about Mariota and I do not understand why I'm a 'fool' because I do not agree with your opinion. He would have been taken after Bortles, Carr and Bridgewater last year. So yes, I consider him a reach at #6. There's such little tape on the guy. Sure he can turn out to be good in 3 years... So could a 7th round draft pick.
Ha...my fckn head would explode...it would the proverbial straw that broke me. No way on Dupree at 6.
Yeah hahahaaa that would be too funny. Worse than taking Kyle Brady when Sapp was on the board. Or the LOLworthy WTF moment when we took Bryan Thomas out of Conference USA. But he's got a high Where Is Waldo Score so how could you pass on him? Over a franchise QB? _
Mariota and Winston have to be the top two on the board... beyond that, the only guy I would consider over them is Cooper. That's it. And that's a stretch.
Bottom line, there should be no surprises at #6. This draft really only has about 6 to 7 ( at most) elite players, after that it drops off and Dupree isn't one of them. Williams Winston Cooper Fowler Mariota White Beasley One of these 7 players should be a Jet.
There probably isn't a player in the draft that would be a surprise at this point unless the Jets made a ridiculous reach and I have seen anything that this GM has done so far that would indicate he would make such a stupid move.
for me it really boils down to Mariota, Cooper, or Fowler (in that order). i hope one will be there. If all 3 were gone, my dark horse over White would be Andrus Peat. some may think it's a little steep at 6 maybe, but if the board falls that way, i'd take him. will be a very effective LT in this league for years to come imo.. so there's still a lot of value there. critical role for the future of this team, and can help at RT in the present. i also think his floor is a lot higher than the other pass rushers. i'm not sold on Beasley, Ray, Dupree or Gregory at the 6..
U said it.....every new GM wants that safe first pick. Even idzik thought that way with milliner. LOL So who is safe for the jets now.... Cooper or fowler at 6.
There's a better chance that Dupree goes in the 2nd round than at #6. If we took him at #6 it would be a huge reach!
As we get closer to the draft, I believe Fowler might falls to us at #6, as long a Mariota goes in the top 5.
Trades are always the x-factor that are hard to determine but if there aren't any trades in the top 5 or a team trades up specifically to select Mariota I could see the top five going:1) Winston or Mariota, 2) Mariota or Winston, 3) Williams, 4) White or Cooper, 5) Beasley or Gregory or maybe even the other top WR and then Fowler to us at 6th. IMO there are 6 top prospects: Mariota, Winston, Williams, Fowler, White and Cooper. Beasley is sort of on the cusp of that as well. So we're guaranteed one of those picks and if someone takes Beasley or Gregory or a reach then that just means someone even better should be available to us.
If that happens it would be an absolute gift, and Mac and Bowles would race to the podium to snag Fowler!
