Isles win in regulation makes tomorrow's games more interesting than a Pens win. If Pitt wins tonight then a Sens win at lunchtime tomorrow renders the evening games irrelevant, other than for match ups. If the Pens lose in regulation tonight then even if the Sens win tomorrow, there's still a fight between Boston and Pittsburgh tomorrow night for the last spot.

If the Isles don't hit 100 points, absent of winning the Cup, this season will have become a disappointment.

Very interesting match-ups for those teams today. I don't think the Flyers at home is an easy win for Ottawa. Could go either way. Tampa Bay should not be easy for Boston and even though Buffalo should be easy for Pittsburgh, nothing is a given with how they have played lately. Should be a fun day. As for Rangers-Caps in about an hour: Caps win gives them home ice against the Isles so I hope they can pull it off. Not sure how hard either team will play though.

Can't believe we blew our chance at drafting McDavid. Fucking idiots. Now we're going to have to go and draft yet another Calder Trophy candidate in the sixth round.

I hope this is not too much of a personal question. But how come you are both Jets and Sens fan? :)

Sens because until about four months ago I lived in Ottawa (now in Toronto). Jets because a really long story, but essentially due to irritating friends who are Giants and Patriots fans.

To be fair, Stars have a good team, with some retooling they should be favorites to make the playoffs next year. But yea this year Sens went on a run and made it and he didnt

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015_Stanley_Cup_playoffs

The Los Angeles Kings became the first defending Stanley Cup champions since the Carolina Hurricanes in 2007 to fail to make the playoffs.[4] The Boston Bruins failed to make the playoffs for the first time since the 2007, and became the first reigning Presidents' Trophy winners to miss the postseason since the Buffalo Sabres in 2008.[5] In addition, the San Jose Sharks failed to make the postseason for the first time since 2003, ending the second-longest active streak.[6]

    ROUND 1 Predictions:
    EAST:
    1. New York Rangers over 8. Pittsburgh Penguins in 5. I don't know where the Pens win is coming from though.
    7. Ottawa Senators over 2. Montreal Canadiens in 6. Should be a good match-up. Sens are on fire.
    2. Washington Capitals over 3. New York Islanders in 7. Won't be easy for the Caps or Isles.
    2. Tampa Bay Lightning over 3. Detroit Red Wings in 6. Might be done faster but I will say 6.

    WEST:
    1. Anaheim Ducks over 8. Winnipeg Jets in 7. The Jets are better than people think. Another tough Round 1 match-up for a #1 seed Boudreau.
    2. St. Louis Blues over 7. Minnesota Wild in 7. Another potential great match-up.
    2. Vancouver Canucks over 3. Calgary Flames in 6. This is tough for me but I think whoever takes control early wins it. Flames are so young.
    3. Chicago Blackhawks over 2. Nashville Predators in 7. Best match-up of Round 1. Shame someone has to lose. I'm taking experience.

STANLEY CUP PREDICTION: Chicaco Blackhawks over New York Rangers in 7.

still can't believe Boston, LA, and San Jose missed the playoffs.

here's what bleacher report (not a good source, I was just looking for preseason odds) had:

    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...-nhl-team-to-win-the-2015-stanley-cup/page/31

    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...-nhl-team-to-win-the-2015-stanley-cup/page/29

    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...-nhl-team-to-win-the-2015-stanley-cup/page/26

I wonder what odds you could've gotten on all missing the playoffs. Maybe 35/1.

Finally found a place with odds from last year to win this year's Stanley Cup:

    http://www.cbssports.com/nhl/eye-on...avored-to-win-2015-stanley-cup-oddsmakers-say

    1. Chicago Blackhawks: 15/2
    2. Boston Bruins: 8/1
    3. Pittsburgh Penguins: 9/1
    4. Los Angeles Kings: 10/1
    5. St. Louis Blues: 10/1
    6. Anaheim Ducks: 14/1
    7. San Jose Sharks: 14/1
    8. Colorado Avalanche: 18/1
    9. Minnesota Wild: 18/1
    10. New York Rangers: 18/1

San Jose, Pittsburgh, Boston, and LA were all very mediocre, and PIT was lucky to sneak in.

Colorado finished dead last in their division.

    Also, Kane could return shortly.

So fatigue was certainly one of the issues the Kings could not overcome in becoming the first defending Cup champion to fail to qualify for the playoffs since the 2006-07 Hurricanes. But there was a fatigue of a different kind at work as well in L.A., for the fact is the players had become tired of Coach Daryl Sutter.

Slap Shots has been told by two sources that the Kings locked the door to their locker room following a defeat on the road within the last two weeks so that Sutter could not get in and deliver what the players apparently expected to be another in a series of lectures/tirades.

As the tale was told, after Sutter finally tracked down an arena operative to unlock the door, he was greeted by three heavy waste receptacles lined up as barricade to what had become an empty room.
