Absolutely trade up and end our existence as a mediocre franchise toiling in obscurity watching the Pats win division after division after division.

I wouldnt because I'm not a Mariota guy, but I wouldnt mind trading up if it was a guy I liked.

Unless it was a Luck level prospect, I dont think I would trade next years first. Jets are already running pretty low on draft picks, and that isnt a good way to build a team. Teams need depth and that comes from the draft. I'm not sure I'd ever trade a Redskins like haul.

Can we please put the RGII trade comparisons to rest? No one following the Herschel Walker or Ricky Williams draft trades thought those were the new baselines. Conversely, we traded up from 19 to 5 for Mark Sanchez and gave up nothing more than a bag of the Doritoes. I doubt after that trade GMs were thinking the cost of trading up has suddenly gone way down. There are a ton of factors in play the least of which being what the Redskins previously gave up in the RGII trade.

If I read another "he's not an Andrew Luck type prospect" or "he's far from a sure thing" reference I think may gouge my eyes out. As if a team that was in position to draft a sure thing like Peyton, Luck, Elway…etc. would entertain trading that pick away if not forced to by the prospect.

yes we will see! but I don't want to trade up for him and I don't want to take him in the first round so I think that makes a huge difference.

The question was would you trade up for him, not would the other team want to trade back.

I'm not trading up multiple firsts unless he is at that level.

"My gut tells me that if I had to put a percentage or the highest percentage of any of these teams (TEN, STL, NYJ, PHI…etc.) winding up with Mariota, it will be the Jets".

McShay knows his stuff regarding the prospects & draft evaluation pretty well but he doesn't know what plans organizations have.. the inside scoop with teams if you will. So I don't know if that means much, but interesting nonetheless so thanks for posting

It was in response to a gun to the head type question by SAS,. He prefaced by saying he had no inside info. He thinks the Jets at 2 or 6 is the "most likely" scenario from his vintage point.

all our key FO staff and coaches were just out for a first hand look at him...
if they all unanimous on him, then i think it makes sense entertaining a trade up.

in that scenario, it would still depend on cost.
we will not be offering an RGIII deal, nor should we.
if it's a matter of our first 2 picks to move up tho, that might be a different story. in that event, i would be totally on board.
unfortunately it will likely cost more..

You're wrong. The previous trade a few years back, that's going to be the standard to start the talks....it may not be as expensive, but it will be very close.

I like MM but not for multiple 1st Rd picks and more.

Some of You guys are talking crazy thinking the Titans are going to give away the pick.

The lack of knowledge and understanding of the draft process by some is off the wall.

    Bullcrap, you don't know that.

The Jags are going to start the talks with that trade.

I'm certainly not suggesting they are going to give away the pick but I believe it will be somewhere between the RG3 deal and the Sanchez deal.

And I also think the 6 pick has a lot of intrinsic value as opposed to the 10th or 12 or 13 or 19 or 20 so we'd have to pay somewhat less than those teams. Not sure Tenn want's to be drafting outside the top 6-8, so they'd take SLIGHTLY less for our pick than, say, one of Cleveland's, for example.

But it will cost a pretty penny, just not IMHO as much as the RG3 deal.

They can start there but I don't think it ends there.

But this is all guessing, right? Who knows for sure?
