I said I was going to pimp my boy Marcus Thomas, DT from Florida and it starts now! Think about it. The storyline of Marcus and Leon coming from Jacksonville and defeating their home team, preventing them from going to the Super Bowl or straight up just keeping them out of the playoffs!!! Also, what do you cats think about Reggie Nelson (FS/CB from Florida), if anything at all? Between he and Marcus, they should take 2 slots in the top 12 picks of the '07 Draft. Do ya homework and get back with me. Not to mention, Coles is from J-Ville as well!
Woodley would be good in a 3-4. He's a bit undersized, not exactly Dwight Freeney; just a faster version of Elvis Dumervile (Former Louisville DE)
I usually agree with you, but I'm not this time. First off, where would Marcus Thomas fit in our D. 3-4 DE? he has the talent to do it, but I see him as an ideal 4-3 DT. Reggie Nelson is very good. But our 1st pick in this draft needs to be 3-4 DL (id prefer someone who played the 3-4 in college) Pass Rush OLB OG RT either one of those should be our first pick. after going for 2 OL in the first round last yr we still need some real road graders on the inside and a solid RT. not to mention a pass rush OLB and someone to keep Barton and Vilma free up front.
Yeah, almost just as lame as the people who are still talking about who we should have gotten in the '06 draft and we're 3-3, still six games into the season. Play with the cards you're dealt! I'd rather look ahead than behind, or are we as Jets fans conditioned to worry about what could have been all of the time?
Actually, Marcus can play Nose Guard as well. He can stop the run as well as apply pressure. He's at the very least, just as good as Gerrard Warren was coming out of college. Haloti Ngata played in a 4-3 at Oregon, and is now playing a mixture of 3-4 and 4-3 in Baltimore. Also, Jason Ferguson played in the 4-3 at Georgia and was good in Parcells' 3-4; Vince Wilfork played in the "U's" 4-3 and is doing quite well in New England. Besides, how many college teams use the 3-4? Not many with quality players.
yeah ive seen him he takes double teams in a 4-3. but not every play. I think hes great, but if we draft someone to play NT. I want it to be someone whos spent their time playing in a 3-4. and I'm very liberal, but throw in his marijuana suspension and I'm just weary of taking another DL that high. no pun intended. besides, I like how he pentetrates though, if he played in green I'd prefer him to be a 3-4 DE. I'm not questioning his ability but I'd like to see alot more from him. But since I respect your opinion for various reasons. But I'm just interested in getting a pass rush OLB and some real run blocking for leon in the 1st rd. Cause I'm looking for a more prototypical NT.(which there arent many, if at all aside from Oken of Texas) which is why i keep suggesting maybe hed be better suited as a 3-4 DE.
If it's a pass rushing DE you want, Adam Carricker from Nebraska may be your guy; 6'6" 300 lbs and was timed as fast as a 4.76 in the forty! I know Quenton Moses, and Gaines Adams may be on the brain right now, but Carricker is going to give you that Grant Wistrom effort everytime out; may be a mid to late 1st round pick. Also, he helped Nebraska lead the nation in sacks last season with 50!!!! Doug Free of Northern Illionois can really help us out in the 2nd or 3rd round at offensive tackle. He's a big reason for Garrett Wolfe's explosive 2 seasons. He reminds me of Nick Kazcur from New England (Another MAC o-lineman from Toledo, but more athletic and younger. Kazcur is from Canada)
Our fans will only complain about how he is just 203 pounds and had just moved up from 196 lbs before the season.
Generally, as a rule of thumb, when I'm not interested in a thread, I tend to stay out of it and not respond. It may just be me; I've been known to have some strange tendencies. Whatcha think?
rofl thats why I make good use of the scroll button on my mouse. otherwise mastering a swift click and drag to get through the doubters and non contributors lol. if people are going to complain about your thread the least they can do is amuse me. how dare they.
the Jet's 1st pick of the 07 draft is not known because NO ONE CARES ABOUT THE DRAFT RIGHT NOW!!! We don't even know where we will be draftin. We could be top 10 or in the late 20's. I"ll worry about the draft when we are eliminated from the playoffs.
Nah I said Pass Rushing OLB, but Carricker is a monster. and I wouldnt mind having him. My main reason for debating is I think we should go for a pass rushing 3-4 OLB or a G in the 1st Rd. due to the fact I dont see any prototypical 3-4 NG's coming out this year. versus the fact you believe Marcus Thomas can play the 3-4 NG. either way i think we both agree in that hes mos def a top 15 if not 10 talent. I just question as to how well hed make the transition into our system. I've watched some of Wolfe's plays. the lineman dont appear to be bruisers. but VERY technically sound as I've almost always seen lead blockers in front of Wolfe. So I'll look up some info on Doug Free when I can. We'll see.
