Mike Garafolo on Twitter: "Osi Umenyiora back to the New York market? Maybe. Source says the free-agent DE was in NJ today to meet with the ... Jets. Interesting."
This would be an odd signing if he comes here. His game was speed, and last year showed he lost that edge. Doesn't fit a 3-4 scheme, so his downs would be limited.
He's 6-3 255 so he has the body type to play 3-4 olb, but is he a good scheme fit? If he only comes in when we play a base 4-3 so be it. We need one more body who can rush the passer why not see what the price is?
not interested... overrated, one dimensional and that dimension has faded. also an unlikely scheme fit to do anything but pass rush, so i'd actually rather just use Babin.
Osi has always loved money first and everything else second. So I don't think he'll come cheap. I could see him retiring rather than playing for nothing. I didn't follow him last year but from I'm hearing he was underwhelming. If Mac and Bowles think he can contribute no problem kicking his tires. He's played for winners.
I don't think so.. Taylor actual was allot better tHan his stats showed. SoI has been really disapointing in Atlanta.m
The problem is, we already have veteran players, Harris, Pace, Revis, Cromartie, brick, mangold, snacks, Wilkerson. Do we really need to spend what little is left of the cap space on another older defensive player?
Hard to complain about bringing in anybody if it's at a minimal contract, so I won't. But it would be slightly surprising since they already have veteran depth in Pace and Babin, the latter of whom was actually quite good last year. There's also Coples and two young guys who showed at least some promise. This would make a little more sense of Coples is dealt, but for this position, I'm looking for a young, impact player rather than depth
great job my the reporters and their "sources" Osi was at the Jets facility for about 10 minutes on a "social visit" just to say hello to Bowles before he went to the airport
