    ***********************************Bump for awesomeness*****

Now with the rumors of the Pats interested in Wayne or Harvin, Revis signing is a must. Additionally, we have a first round CB who is coming off a major injury, who the coach is non-committal to.

@@@@I say bring back Cro also.@@@@@

A sick defense can do a lot for an offense. Field position, sacks, 3 and outs, TO..etc.

Jeezus, that whole thread is 100% fail. Funny only one or two people man up and say I WAS WRONG, the rest will come back in a month like nothing happened.

LOL at these fools saying get a QB. As if FA was bursting with franchise QB's. There have been 2 franchise QB's hit the open market in the last 20 years, Brees and Manning; and both were b/c of injuries concerns and their teams having younger replacements. These guys never hit the freaking market, and are never put up for trade. You find them in the draft, and that won't kill your cap for at least 4 years.

My favorite were the 2 guys (MikeSLT and GreenDay) who said we were idiots for wanting to spend over 20 million on corners and how happy they were that we we're not the GM. They won't man up nor admit their excitement to our signings lol

It's even more hilarious how the 1 guy said we shouldn't sign 2 cb, and here we got 3, and a safety lol. Great bump sir.

That would be a tremendous waste of money in my eyes. Cro will be the 2nd best CB we sign?? No, this team needs offensive line help and a pass rush before we even look at the CB position.

We need so much offensive help (QB, multiple O-Line positions, maybe a receiver) and people here want to blow over $20m on two cornerbacks? Thank God none of you are GMs.

Yes, I am uninformed and clueless. Which is why I know that getting 2 CBs that are as good as Cro or better is a waste of a resources. Football teams win or lose by the QB. If you can protect the QB or get to the QB, you're changing the game. You are not changing the game by shutting down a WR. It's the same reason we were correct in trading Revis. I don't care what kind of scheme you can run, a run-of-the-mill CB will be just fine if you can get pressure on the QB. It's as simple as that. But yes, you are still correct, I am the uninformed and clueless one who doesn't want to waste valuable cap space on luxury positions on a 4-12 team. You want to get 1? Fine. I'll accept that we should get another. But two guys that are at Cro's level or better is just stupid...oh and uninformed and clueless.

And gotta love the "if you watched any games last season" argument. Weird. I post on a message board about the Jets. I thought we all watched all the games. Only some of us understand what it takes to succeed though after reading your terrible suggestion.

Yes, I'm saying you plug in the guy you drafted 9th overall and see if he can handle it. Call that crazy, but I hate the idea of spending money at the CB position when it's such a luxury position in today's NFL. If you don't get pressure on the QB, I don't care if you have 5 Revises, an average QB will find the open guy. If you have a pass rush, you don't need to spend so much on the back end. Anything that impacts the QB's focus directly is the key to win in today's NFL. That's giving him time to throw on offense and that's rushing him on defense. When we beat the Pats, it's not because of good coverage. It's because we dial up pressure on Brady. And that's how you beat any good team. A good QB will always find an open guy if you let him and as long as our CBs can hang on for a few seconds, that's all you need. So yeah, I'm fine with bringing in 1 semi marquee CB and seeing what we can do with milliner, McDougle, Marcus Williams, walls, etc.

We do not need a #1 corner. We need somebody opposite of Dee and for McDougle to be ready to fill Kyle Wilson's shoes fast. Dee is our #1 corner.

Read all these responses and what I see is blah blah blah for emphasizing 1 point, and that's we didn't need to spend the money in secondary and more in our first round loaded d-line, cause pressuring the QB results in wins (paraphrased).

Well my response to that prolonged jibberish is have you ever heard of a coverage sack?

It's one thing to be a knowledgeable fan, and another to be a former player. The latter knows that every unit (d-line, backers, secondary) compliment each other. SO, having seen the results of a strong d-line, dependable and smart backers, a weak secondary this past season, how can you make such blasphemous statements.

It's a good thing Woody hired Bowles and McCag instead of you!

Yup, heard of a coverage sack. Now do you know how often coverage sacks happen? It's not a whole lot.

I will stand behind my statements. I hope they prove me wrong. They're lucky they have a tremendous amount of money to spend to be able to overpay 4 players in the secondary. Call it gibberish, but that's what football is. The entire game revolves around the QB, protecting the QB, and getting to the QB. I think it's pretty naive to think otherwise. The problem with our team is still that we don't have a QB, we're okay at protecting the QB, and we're not very good at generating pressure on the QB.

These flaws can be solved in the draft, but they are key, fatal flaws for this team right now. We have a ton of talent, but I hope it doesn't go to waste. If you can't get pressure on the QB, I don't care that we have Revis and Cro because you can only cover for so long.

We have enough talent along the defensive front, where we lacked and was painfully obvious last season was the secondary which has been addressed to a fault. It's yet to be seen if we overpaid. Our front including Coples and Babin can put enough pressure on opposing QB's. NTM we aren't done yet with FA's still out there and the Draft. Yea, I'd like to win now, but sensibly speaking it may take more than 1 off-season to get where we all want to be team-wise, not just defense-wise.
