we are now at the every touch on Carolina is a foul portion of the game. UL in bonus w/ 9 mins left, Carolina didn't hit bonus in 1st half and still not in bonus in 2nd.
as a referee myself I despise more than anything when people bitch about the foul discrepancy by generally pointing out the foul numbers of each team. as if every game should be close in foul numbers? as if its not possible that one team fouled more than the other? as if its not possible that one team does a great job drawing fouls? it's only basketball too. If the Jets lost a game and had 15 penalties to the opponents 3, the story wouldn't be "look at the difference in penalties!!! these refs blow" the story would be "15 fuckin penalties, no wonder the Jets lost! so undisciplined" but in basketball its not the same? Why is that? its because people don't understand the rules as well
It's not just the discrepancy, it's calling touch fouls on one side and the other side gets to mug. As long as game is called even it's fin, even could be 10 fouls on one team and 3 on the other if the teams are committing similar fouls but you can't let one team be aggressive and not the other. This has not been a poorly officiated game, I was just venting at that moment as they had called 4-5 fouls in a row.
Isn't it fair to say that different styles of offense tend to draw more fouls? For example, a team that slashes to the net will draw more fouls than an outside shooting team?
