Nobody answered the question: is Vick still on the roster?? I know it's not a football source but Wikipedia has him listed as FA and the football sites never update during the offseason

    Rotoworld also calls him FA

Gailey isn't going to start Geno over Fitz.

I was going to reply to him, but then I read the rest of his post and decided it wasn't worth it.

Of the below average yet realistic options available, Fitzpatrick is near the top of the list and he comes at the right price. Keep in mind Houston is paying $2m more for Hoyer with a late draft pick next year as compensation.

He mentioned Vinny. Can you imagine this board if the Jets signed Vinny Testaverde? He was an absolute turnover machine. Had one winning season in eleven seasons, had a pis spoor completion percentage. People would have been bitching. Then he went 12-1, 29/7, 61%.

We need a season like that out of Fitz.

Vinny did have a much better arm, however, that's for sure.

Vinny physically was a prototype pocket passer, tall, well built and long limbed, Fritz is a short guy who has no athletic ability and a big midget head, he's never going to resemble Vinny even in his best years

Vinny was awful before 1998. Absolutely awful. Big arm, but dumb as a stump.

Point is, every once in a while a bad QB has a great season.

That's what we need from Fitz.

    I never said I thought we'll get it. I don't.

In case you haven't noticed, that would be a HUGE upgrade over where we've been the last two years. Is it where we ultimately want to be? No, but it's a step in the right direction. There were no long term "answers" at QB in FA, only short term patches and more questions. If the Jets draft Mariota or Winston, we will be on the road to getting where we need to be and won't have to rush which ever one of those we have onto the field.

Vinny was awful before 1998 and he was pretty awful afterwards. The only thing he was a prototype at was as a bonehead interception machine.

Sorry, your last sentence made it sound like you were disparaging the move.

No, I meant that we've had such shit QB play that average looks good by comparison. I'm fine with Fitz for a year if that's what it comes down to.
