Rex gotta be thinking if Mac was the hire 2 years ago, he'd still be the Jets coach..

    LOL, probably.

But, in all fairness, maybe it was for the best this way. Rex had a lot of outdated ideologies of how the game works today, and was often undisciplined (which trickled down to the team). Hopefully Bowles is the opposite of that.

Sounds like Cro's in. Load 'em up and weed 'em out.
Lotta competition gonna happen After DR, Cro, & Skrine...
Still Pryor, AA, and Jarrett at Safety...maybe Landry? I believe...Not sure there's the ideal centerfielder there...for now

Outdated ideologies? Seattle was a run call away from winning back to back titles with ground and pound. Rex had the right idea, not the right players.

Bowles is very much like Ryan, which is a good thing imo...

the ideology is not outdated, and the 'undisiplined' thing is a farce. the penalties were below avg, and there were no major incidents on or off the field. there was also no finger pointing.
if anything, we were underprepared. maybe Bowles can improve on the preparation, but he's far from opposite.

You can't be serious. Jets trademark was "undisciplined" under Ryan.

how so? what on the field or off the field would support that theory in comparison to other NFL teams?

it takes players actions to show a lack of discipline....

i saw a close group of teammates who backed each other thru thick and thin.
there were no team breakdowns (outside that loser Holmes in 2011)..

there were not the off field incidents which other teams have had many.

    the penalties were below avg..

people seem to think players coach translates to no discipline, and duechbag coaches mean discipline.
    it's not the case tho.

Because they run a similar defense doesn't make them in any way similar as leaders. I liked Rex but he ran a very loose ship, there is no disputing that.

Bowles doesn't seem like a hard disciplinarian but I think he's definitely a guy that calls for accountability, something Rex never did.

this surprises me, I thought it would be one or the other. we could go from worst secondary in the league to one of the best overnight.

This is really not a wise way to spend the little money we have remaining considering the holes we still have. We can't just assume we will be able to address these issues in the draft. Still need a safety, a pass rusher, an RB and hopefully another OL.

    Oh, and a QB.

What about not having the right players on the field (10 players often 12 men on the field)? What about MM calling a time out from the sidelines? Sure those are issues of being undisciplined. What about the terrible time outs that were called because players were not ready? I LOVED having a bodacious coach. Loved Rex through and through, but the presnap penalties in addition to the above are obvious and can't be ignored unfortunately.

You don't move Milliner anywhere.. You just don't count on the kid in the short term. If he can stay on the field and play well, that's great because unlike Rex's D, Bowles' D very often has 3,4 CBs on the field at once. Not to mention if he develops they can move on from Cromartie in a year or 2.

But really, you shouldn't count on him in the short term and that's what they are doing. I think taking the pressure off of him by adding Revis, Cromartie, Skrine will be good for his psyche which was weak in his rookie year. Physically though, there's nothing you can do but hope he stays healthy

Agreed, Cro signing makes little sense to me unless one of the CB's on the roster can make a formidable FS... not gonna hold my breath tho.

Really would prefer spreading this money with some more sensibility. If CB was considered THIS much of a problem that we needed to dump nearly all of our resources into it couldn't we just draft someone in the 2 or 3rd that could offer similar production?
