    Breakdown of Revis contract: $16M FULLY gtd, $17M fully guaranteed, $15M ($6M fully gtd), $11M, $11M #nyj

If all the guaranteed money is really in the first three years, I'm VASTLY in favor of this deal.

Let's remember: the cap is nearly $150 million dollars. The last time we dealt with Revis when he held out, it was about $100 million. A 50% increase in cap necessarily increases the salary of every player.

In a world where a non-Qb can make $20 million in a year (Suh), paying the top CB in the league $17 million isn't outrageous. It's certainly an overpay, but it's a strategic overpay.

You can thank Idzik for that. It's obvious at this point that he's the one that didn't want Revis.

At least we have Revis making it. The Eagles are giving Maxwell 13 mil this year.

Factor in the cap raising, and all our caproom and were basically getting him for free.

If the cap hits are all in-season or mostly so it's a livable deal. We get down to the last 2 years and either the Jets want Revis at $11M a year or they don't. Even if he's going strong and wants more at that point the Jets can just cut him and let him play the market for what it's worth. I just don't want a holdout to become a big deal in the first 3 years and I don't want the Jets hit with a big dead money hit at the end and it looks like none of those things are likely events.

Much like David Harris the contract is $1-2 mil more than I would have liked to pay but I think we did OK.

That makes this a really good deal. We have and will have the cap space to do it.

I agree, and hopefully Revis chose this deal knowing it was going to be his last (or close to his last). If he mentally understands that this is a long-term deal and not a bandaid like last time, I don't think he'll bring up old skeletons.

I'm much more worried about injury or production slowdown, honestly. I'm happy overall with the contract, unless something disastrous happens. It was a good, strategic move in the end. Helps us, hurts the Patriots; everyone's happy.

It'd be better if it's just as it read in the tweet. $16M cap hit in 2015, $17M cap hit in 2016, $15M cap hit in 2017. All guaranteed salaries. That way the last 2 years are just completely ditchable with no big dead money hit.

After my bitching before, I'd be lying if I said I'm not excited. He was my favorite player in his prime, i'm happy that greedy fuck is back! Sucks that I took his nameplate off of my jersey. At least I still have 2 more.. lol
