Hard to respect the idea of BPA for that first round when they had a huge need for the position and selected a player far better a few picks later with a luxury pick

WTF is Chip Kelly doing? Trading all over the place, spending like a drunken sailor.

The whole move that the eagles made and locker retireing really broke my heart since now we pretty much have 0 chance of landing mariota or robbing the eagles of picks

Solid pass CATCHER. Great fit for Gailey's offense and probably cheaper than Spiller. Lower ceiling, but lower price.

We are bringing Bryce Petty in for a visit, can take him in Round 2, I like him better anyway. What do we do with the 6th pick now?

Wrong. Outside of already having a franchise QB, BPA means BPA. If you're ignoring clear delineation in your own rankings because you're "set" at a position, then you are doing the opposite of BPA. The situation of having 2 elite CBs you described is actually the quintessential definition of drafting BPA - if the CB on the board at their pick is clearly BPA, then they take him because the value is too high. What they already have on the roster only matters if the rankings are almost identical. That's drafting intelligently and setting the team up for the long haul rather than a more instant gratification.

In the Jets/Milliner situation, that's not called "drafting for need" it's called being "ridiculously fortunate". It may not have worked out so far, but Milliner was rated by most as the clear best CB in the draft, and a borderline top-5 pick by many (Scouts Inc had him as the 4th best player in the draft). That the Jets had a hole at CB was just fortuitous.

I guess we can blame this on Coples, should cut him right now!

Chris Simms says if the Jets get Revis, him and Skrine will be the best cornerback duo in the NFL.

Amazing how we can go from a huge hole to one of the best, if not the best, duo in football.

I get why people focus on the money but, man, if we can get Revis back I find it hard to pass that up. Basically we traded him two years and got Richardson (or arguably Milliner as we probably get Richardson at 13) and Revis heals, wins a Super Bowl (unfortunately with the Pats but still beneficial experience) and then can come back and retire a Jet.

We go from having just absolutely abysmal CBs to having Revis, Milliner (hopefully healthy), Skrine, McDougle (hopefully healthy), etc. That's just night and day. Plus the rest of our defence is intact or better, especially if we draft a pass rushing OLB in the first and we've improved the offense a bit through getting Marshall although still have the glaring hole at QB.
