Thanks for breaking it to me. I definitely didn't post this. Also, what is an ESPN tickler? Is it like Tickle Me Elmo?
Technically the deal is 2 years for 9.5M with 5.5 guaranteed. He can earn up to 7M in incentives to bring the contract's potential value up to 16. Basically it's a backup QB contract with incentives if he starts enough or performs to certain levels. Not a bad deal for him, but in a QB hungry league it says a lot about the demand for him. But in fairness it's about the best contract any of this years FA QB's can expect, very weak FA QB market.
Seems like we have room for 1 more big FA. Maybe Clay or Iupati, some saying Bulaga. It'll be interesting to see what happens with Dareus next year. He'll get Suh money from someone. Dareus is a monster, but I just don't think its wise to spend $20 million a year on one player who's not a QB. Hope we draft a DT this year.
I really hope ya'll jeopardize your chances at signing Dareus long term by spending big money on a guard
Smart move for Sanchez. 2 off seasons in a row he made the right decision to not throw himself back into the fire somewhere in the poor decision to try and make himself the man. Even if it is a placeholder deal in Philly, it's good for his development to stick with Chip Kelly and that offense.
Signing a guard will have nothing to do with Dareus. You're comparing pennies to dollars there. We could also franchise him for a year or so. We are about done with the guaranteed Money on Mario Williams deal, I'd franchise Dareus 1 year, then the next cut Williams (age 33) and replace that contract with Dareus.
Fred Jackson will also probably be released today or tomorrow, if anyone is interested in a 34 year old RB.
Yeah, I don't see Dareus getting away from Buffalo. Wishful thinking on my part. Maybe he & Hughes can get arrested for another drag race in residential Hamburg and the Bills will change their minds
Are you guys making Dixon or Brown your main back? Spiller is likely gone and now you are releasing Fred Jackson.
I agree, making backup QB money in todays NFL is nothing to laugh at, its far less stressful and he's still going to be able to provide for himself basically forever with what he's made in the NFL.
