What a stupid argument. So does he suggest we shouldn't sign any receivers because our QB isn't good?
http://overthecap.com/player/jay-cutler/130/ Cutler has no guaranteed money due to him after the 2015 season. Essentially the Harvin situation so not much risk if he blows. And I'm not sure what you mean by failing twice with Marshall. Marshall was with CHI for three years, the first posting a career year and going 10-6 with the Bears. The second year they lost to GB in week 17 to miss the playoffs but in a year where it was clear the offense was carrying the team. And yes last year wasn't great but it was still a hell of a lot better than anything Sanchez or Geno did. So not sure if you're going by team success, individual stats or eye test. No I wouldn't trade for Cutler. With the 5th and 6th round picks already gone this year I think the Jets need to hold on to some picks even if it would only cost them a 4th rounder. But it's not as ridiculous as some people on this board thinks. He could at least provide decent play, not bottom five QB play like the Jets have had the last couple years. Oh lord in heaven please let Mariota fall to #6.
Right from that page: "Cutler’s 2016 salary is guaranteed for injury upon signing with $10 million becoming fully guaranteed on the 3rd day of the 2015 League Year"
This is my feeling also. Foles is a very solid QB and if we are able to grab a bunch of picks along with picking up a starting QB who's got his whole career ahead of him, this can be a turning point for this franchise.
I cant read 22 pages of posts, so my only concern is what I am sure everyone has already said: Who the hell is our QB ???
ok we know the Qb is a problem but there is no significant upgrade available this year. So you upgrade the the talent around the qb so you can potentially hide his weaknesses ala Sanchez 1st 2 years. with Decker and now Marshall you have 2 guys who can go up and get the ball. which imo can be huge for a QB . Marshall Requires a double team in most case thats gonna open up the field for everyone else . So regardless of who the QB is this move will do nothing but help the situation.
If we land Mariota and add a #1 corner (Revis), (OG) Franklin and a pass rusher in the draft or Worlids... Watch out AFC!!!
wow, just read that article. lol, what a hack. he criticizes the Jets for making terrible moves, and for being suckered into a bad decision on Marshall.. last i checked, the Bears gave up 2 second rounders, gave up a very large bonus just last year, and will have 5.6M dead money this upcoming season......all Bears decision for Marshall. conversely, the Jets gave up a 5th round pick, are tied to no guarantees, and are only paying around 7.3M this season (only 1.7M more than the Bears are still paying for Marshall!). i think it's clear to see where the history of bad decisions were made in regards to Marshall......and it's not on the Jets end.
