Last night's win should have clinched a tourney bid for St John's! This was a great class that Lavin recruited despite not making a tournament in their 4 years. Harkless, Sampson, Pointer, Harrison, Obekpa, Greene...WOW
it's a joke SJU is considered a lock when they have done very little. their resume stinks, a couple of decent wins against overrated BE teams should not get a team into the tourney.
who have they beaten? didn't beat a single tourney bound team in non conf swept Prov and Xavier- 2 very mediocre teams and beat GU another decent at best team w/ this resume they are a lock? beat 'Nova on Saturday then I will consider them a lock, give me one really good win to at least somewhat counter the 2 awful losses- one to Creighton and one to Depaul
Congrats and best of luck to the local teams. Gee, what (non-metriculated) venom could you be talking about? St. John's moves to 21-9 even if it was against Big East Conference cellar-dweller Marquette whose only claim to fame this year were victories over Ariz. St and Tennessee (even if they were 1-0 vs. the ACC ) . Along with the 3 of the "little locals" (Iona, St. Francis-Bklyn and Stoney Brook) this NCAA tournament could possibly see 4 local NY teams in the mix (albeit with at least 2 of them #15/#16 "one-and-done" seeds). - Iona College won the MAAC regular season (24-3; 17-3 conf., and fwiw, 1-0 vs. the ACC ) and now need to avoid an upset (Jaspers?) in the conference tourney. - St. Francis-Brooklyn (22-10; 15-3 conf.) is the #1 seed and is in the semis of the NEC tourney. - Stony Brook (22-10; 12-4 conf.) currently in the semifinals of the American East Conference - the conference with the coolest nicknames. The Seawolves will face the Vermont Catamounts in one semi-final (the Catamounts coming off their win over the UMBC Retreivers), while in the other semi-final, the Albany Great Danes (coming off their win over the Maine Black Bears) face off against UNH.
Happy to see the Johnnies make it. If I didn't go to Siena, I would have went to St. Johns no doubt. Big fan of this team, hopefully they make some noise in the tournament.
If any BE team is going to make it I would want St. John's(then SH). I root for the locals when I watch them.
Looks like you came up short little man.... So amusing to see the 'venom' junc. I tweak a b-ball conference and you in turn go the nasty personal attack route? Hahaha....pwned.
I'm not nasty at all, I'm having fun. Sorry that you can dish it out and not take especially when my reply was a million times funnier than your post.
The quiet before the conference tourney storm with everyone pretty much playing out the string outside of UNC getting a revenge shot at home vs. Duke. other games: - UL hosts UVA; solid Cavs one of the quietest, go-about-your-business #2 team in recent memory. - 'Nova-SJU and Butler-Providence close out the regular season...finally...
Interestingly enough the Carolina-duke game means nothing as far as seeding for the ACC Tourney. it comes down to UL-UVa, if UL wins they get 4 seed and double bye and Carolina is 5 seed, if UL loses Carolina is 4 and UL is 5.
