If Eagles throw in 1st this year, and 1st next year plus Foles, do we pull the trigger on this one? Remember. Maclin is in the market too.
That's the problem - Mariota could be worth that much [to them] but is not likely as much of worth [here in New York.]
Why not? We have Chan Gailey, who has a lot of experience running the spread offense. He's not a great HC but he's a pretty good OC from what I've read.
I know it sounds like a silly answer, but it depends how Macgagnan feels about Mariota. Me personally, I would think long and hard about it. We would need plenty of additional picks to use as ammunition to move up from 20 if we want to. If we could get a haul from Philly, move back to 20, then use the extra picks we received to move up to 9-12, while retaining our 1st rounder, I wouldn't be opposed to that at all. But if you think Mariota is the future, than no, you don't do it.
This is exactly the scenario and no I would not take your trade. The 6 pick will produce a very good player if the Jets use it well. There are very good edge rushers that will still be there and probably a very good WR. The 20 is less predictable and next year's 1st is an unknown quantity but likely to be well below the 16 and thereby worth less than a normal future season 1st rounder. Foles is a very good prospect and I do like him some but he was a 3rd rounder for a reason. Would you have traded the 6 pick in this draft for Matt Schaub, the 20 and a future 1st rounder?
No. Why is everyone in love with Foles? I'd rather have Mariota. You hear the rumored trade Philly has with TB? McCoy, Foles and three firsts.
If I'm the Jets and I'm entertaining a trade to go back to the 20th pick, I am absolutely getting back enough picks to move back up if I want. I'm getting at least a 2nd and 4th in addition to next years first. Say hypothetically you don't want Mariota. We make the trade with Philly and get the 20th pick. What if by some small chance Cooper or White fall to 12. I'm using the extra picks that Philly sent me to get said player. That way I get my guy (Cooper/White) and I still get next years first from Philly.
Congrats, for the first time in message board history the same exact thread has been posted 72 times in 1 month.
Fair point, maybe because a lot of people seemed to think that Shady was bait for them to move up. Its extremely unlikely I grant you, but there have been trades like this before.
