This just adds another receiver in the mix and continues to take leverage from Harvin. There is a wealth of talent at the WR position in FA and the draft, I have a feeling if Harvin hits FA he won't see anywhere close to what he thinks he is.
I'm assuming the Jets are going to cut Harvin. Once they do, I'd replace him with Cobb, and then draft someone like Strong in the 2nd round. This would allow the Jets to draft MM, if he falls, or a top pass rusher in the first round.
It'd be hard to pass on K White or Cooper if MM was gone. I know a rush LB is a must in this league, but we haven't had a stud WR that we can call our own in YEARS.
It would be hard but Cobb and Decker with Strong, Spiller and Kerley would certainly soften the blow. Especially if we get Fitz to throw it to them.
I think Strong is going to be gone in the first. IMO it's between Strong and DGB with regards to who will go in the first. In that case, I'd be happy landing either.
Oh, I'm waking up, and I don't let their losses affect my overall disposition or mood, but at the same time, we root for a team for fun, and when that team continually screws up and embarrasses itself, then it's no longer fun to follow and root for it.
I really must say this is a dumb thread. The NYJ QB sucks. Geno could not make progressions, made stupid decisions with the football, would take psychotically dumb sacks that took the team out of scoring position, and was unable to build any chemistry with of the current NYJ receivers. So what does that tell you? What it tells you is that you can't add great, talented receivers to the team and expect that Geno will get better. Geno is a turd and that is a turd you cannot polish. And where there are no great solutions out there in regards to the QB position, the Jets should focus on areas where they can win as soon as this season. Add OL and that will improve an already pretty good running game. Add a truly good FB through FA or through the draft and improve that dimension to the running game. Add playmakers through FA or through the draft to improve a truly bad defensive backfield. The defense already has a pretty formidable DL, why not improve that complimentary unit and make the Jets capable of winning via forcing turnovers (something they have been TERRIBLE at for many years now) and getting off the field faster. Add playmakers that prevent the big play from beating them like it did so many times last season. Adding a WR is only an option in my opinion for the Jets is if that receiver is BPA at that particular pick. If it is even between an OL and a WR for example? Go OL all day long. It's picks like that that will allow the jets to get better immediately. When you have a sh*tty QB like Geno, you can add all of the great WR's of your choice and Geno will still find a way to f*ck things up.
How can a top flight receiver prospect hurt Geno? Or hinder whoever takes the reigns for that matter. The Bucs picked Evans last year, who was arguably the most productive rookie WR and one of the most productive in the league. With SCRUBS throwing to him! Now they have a shot to land Winston. GTFO with your blatant agenda.
No we haven't, but by the same token, we haven't had a stud pass rusher in just as long, maybe longer.
I'd be fine with either player, but I think some team will take a chance late in the 1st on DGB since he has a really high ceiling.
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...les-if-its-supposed-to-happen-it-will-happen/ It's looking more and more likely Maclin could test the market since it doesn't seem like the Eagles will tag him. He would be in the FA WR on my wish list. Probably Cobb, Marshall/Maclin, Harvin... While I like the WR in this draft it's looking like it will be a much easier position to fill in FA than OLB. Fitz, Spiller, Cobb and Franklin on O Mariota or Fowler in round 1 Jackson, McCourty, Cro on D Strong/DGB/Petty/Hundley round 2
Stud receiver is less important than a rush LB in a league that is QB driven on offense and slow down the QB driven on defense. You don't need the elite WR to win in the league. Draft the pass rusher over the receiver every day of the week. Just look at the receivers in this year's Super Bowl. Look what happened to the superior receivers in the Seattle/Denver Super Bowl by the superior defense. All you need is good receivers in this league. We have good receivers.
The good part of having like 50 major holes on the te4am it will be hard for the Jets to draft someone at #6 that they don't really need.
