Bc harvin won't restructure and he's not worth the money he's set to make. Harvin is a me first guy and never plays except when he wants to. Hence why he was even sent to us for peanuts to begin with. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If we keep harvin simply to keep him away from New England this regime is doomed before they've even gotten started. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I say keep him for atleast a year he is expensive but you need playmakers and he is one. His contract isn't guaranteed and we can cut bait when ever. At least give the guy a chance on the Jets before cutting him. We have so much cap room and I don't see a better option in free agency and his cap number will not restrict us for this year. If down the line his number restricts us in any way you restructure him or cut him its that simple.
Quite frankly, if mr Harvin desires exceed our reasonable expectations he can move on. We have to look at his value versus the rest of this team needs
So let's see and I assume somebody has already said this but NE currently sits 3 milklion over the cap but they will still pay Revis 20M and Harvin 11M and who knows who else how much?
Please let NE pay 10 million for a glorified special teams player. That would be so idiotic that it would be comical. The dude is garbage, and I would be thrilled if he was cut and joined the Pats...
he never said he wouldn't restructure. This will be a pretty simple restructure. some monies will be converted to bonuses, some money will be guaranteed and some will be turned into incentive bonuses to keep him interested.
Of course New England wants him, he had his most success in the Urban Meyer spread that Belichick modeled the Patriots offense after, he'd be deadly in that system
The Patriots have their hands full, they've made some expensive buys. They have a record of letting running backs go, so Vereen will walk, they can hang onto McCourty by using the franchise tag I don't see Harvin in a Patriots uniform and the Patriots taking talent from the Jets for the sake of it is nonsense.
I don't see Harvin playing for cheap and the Patriots don't have much cap space. I think this is either agent talk or the Patriots trying to bluff the Jets in to keeping him with the huge cap hit and the lost 4th round draft pick.
If Harvin is playing for cheap next year it won't be in NY. The Jets aren't exactly a great opportunity at the moment. He'll go someplace that offers him more where he has a chance at the playoffs. He'll probably go south not north.
May as well hold on to him for a bit. See if you can sign one or two of the FA WR's. If you cant, you hold on to him. If we're able to sign Cobb and a lower level free agent, we can get our 4th back.
